Thousands of Bireuen residents, as well as officials of the Bireuen Regency Government (Pemkab), and various other elements, Friday, 13/9/2024, evening, spilled into the Cot Gapu Green Open Space (RTH) Field, Bireuen.
The purpose turned out to be to attend the opening of the Bireuen Coffee and Culinary Festival. The opening began with Shalawat Badar led by Tgk T Ijlal Mudhaffar, a UNIKI Bireuen student. The opening was carried out by a member of the DPRA, Dr. H Amiruddin Idris, SE, MSi.
After the opening, the biography and journey of the late Tgk H Muhammad Yusuf A Wahab or known as Tu Sop by one of the deceased's family members continued.
The Coffee and Culinary Festival was organized by the Aceh Culture and Tourism Office and the Bireuen Regency Government (Pemkab). The festival was attended by 55 Aceh coffee and culinary businesses. Also present were 10 coffee shops, 40 UMKM stands, one Gayo coffee gallery, and four coffee trucks.
The Cot Gapu Bireuen field was filled with more than a thousand people watching the opening and also seeing various exhibition stands with various culinary and UMKM products. In addition, there were dozens of stands selling children's toys, adult clothing and others filling the field.
Meanwhile, a number of students from the Indonesian National Islamic University (UNIKI) Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, took part in this activity.
Vice Rector II of UNIKI Bireuen, Chairul Bariah, said that UNIKI Bireuen was also included in the committee and was given a stand so that students could have a business and be built into UNIKI's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM).
They can participate in selling various products that they produce, such as boi cakes or Acehnese bole cakes, chips, fried onions, drinks and various other culinary delights.
"We have learning about entrepreneurship, so students are required to have a business even if they don't have their own, they can form a joint venture," he explained.
He hopes that after graduating, not only will they look for jobs that are already available, but UNIKI Bireuen graduates will be able to create jobs.
Head of Aceh Culture and Tourism Office Almuniza Kamal through the Head of History and Cultural Values of Aceh Culture and Tourism Office Evi Mayasari said that the activity was held as a promotional forum in order to introduce and popularize Bireuen as a culinary and coffee destination in Aceh. One of the famous culinary delights in the area is satay.
"This event is also held to increase regional economic growth through the promotion of tourism actors involved in the event," said Evi.
According to him, Bireuen is a district in Aceh Province which is very strategically located and is a transit area. This district borders North Aceh, Pidie Jaya and Bener Meriah.
Evi explained that since 1970 Bireuen has been known as a legendary coffee processing area. Arasco and Indaco have succeeded in becoming an important part of the development of coffee.
In addition, Bireuen Regency also has a variety of traditional culinary delights including satay, Halua Breuh, and various other culinary delights. Evi explained that the 2024 Bireuen Coffee and Culinary Festival was designed in the form of an exhibition of coffee shops and traditional Acehnese cuisine, from those that serve traditional to modern dishes.
The event will also feature an exhibition of coffee shops & coffee shops, a culinary bazaar, an UMKM parade, a spice market, an Acehnese coffee gallery, talk shows, Piasan Nanggroe, folk games, and various types of competitions.
The types of competitions held in the event include the sareng coffee competition. Participants in this competition consist of coffee makers in the Bireuen area and will compete to showcase their skills in making sareng coffee.
In addition, there is a Halua cake decorating competition. Participants in this competition consist of traditional culinary entrepreneurs and the general public.
