Nowadays, cholesterol disease has become something that many people fear. Various factors can cause a person to experience high cholesterol. High cholesterol is a factor that can increase the risk of various diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. Therefore, it is very important for everyone to keep cholesterol levels stable and not let them exceed normal limits. Cholesterol is a fat compound in the blood. Cholesterol consists of two types, namely Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.

High Density Lipoprotein or good cholesterol functions to clean excess cholesterol and bring it back to the liver to be excreted. Meanwhile, Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol or bad cholesterol functions to carry cholesterol from the liver to the body's cells. Bad cholesterol or LDL can trigger blockage or hardening of the blood vessels. Meanwhile, HDL or good cholesterol can clean cholesterol from cells and blood vessels, thereby preventing disease. If the cholesterol in the body exceeds the normal limit, it is certain that you have high cholesterol. In adults, normal cholesterol levels are below 100 mg/dL for LDL, and below 200 mg/dL for total cholesterol.

In order to live a healthy life and be able to carry out various activities without problems, of course your health must always be maintained, including keeping cholesterol levels normal. If you already have high cholesterol, there are various ways to lower cholesterol naturally. Several lifestyle changes must be considered and practiced regularly to reduce high cholesterol levels. Exercise regularly, adopt a healthy and nutritious diet, and stay away from habits that can cause cholesterol levels to increase.

Consuming foods that contain healthy fats can help lower cholesterol levels. Healthy fats, such as unsaturated fats, can reduce LDL while increasing HDL, which is important for preventing blockages in blood vessels. Nuts, olive oil, avocado, tuna and mackerel are examples of foods that are rich in healthy fats. High cholesterol can be reduced by avoiding foods that contain artificial fats, namely fats that are often found in processed foods, such as margarine or cooking oil. Foods that contain artificial fats include: margarine white butter, cooking oil, and fast food.

Another natural way to reduce bad cholesterol levels is by increasing your intake of soluble fiber. This type of soluble fiber can help reduce LDL levels and protect the body from the risk of heart disease and stroke. Exercising regularly is the easiest and most natural thing you can do to help manage cholesterol levels and protect the body from various diseases. Being overweight is one of the factors in increasing bad cholesterol levels in the body. With regular exercise you can lose excess weight.

Another way that can be done to lower cholesterol levels is to reduce stress. High levels of stress according to research can cause an increase in cholesterol. People who are stressed usually tend to adopt unhealthy lifestyles, such as overeating or not exercising enough. This then results in an increase in dangerous levels of bad cholesterol. The cortisol hormone released during times of stress can affect cholesterol levels. High cortisol can encourage the body to produce more triglycerides, thereby increasing Low-Density Lipoprotein cholesterol in the body.
