Aceh is currently the only province in Indonesia that implements the Single Banking System (one banking system), namely the sharia system in running the banking economy and other financial institutions.
This is a commitment in applying the principles of Islamic law as a whole, including in financial practice.
The statement was made by the Head of the Economic Bureau of the Aceh Secretariat, Amirullah, who was present on behalf of the Governor of Aceh at the opening of the Regional Deliberation (Muswil) of the Sharia Economic Community (MES) of Aceh Province on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Grand Arabia Hotel, Banda Aceh.
Furthermore, Amirullah added that the Aceh Provincial Government hopes and needs contributions from Aceh MES and other related parties, to take a role, both in advancing the regional sharia economy, as well as in the development of the national sharia economy and finance.
In the MES Aceh Muswil, Banda Aceh Mayor Aminullah Usman was again trusted to be the General Chair of the Aceh MES Regional Management accompanied by Sugito as General Secretary for the period 1443-1446 Hijri or 2021-2024 AD.
Present to open the event virtually representing the General Chairperson of the MES Central Executive, namely Chairman III, Firdaus Djaelani. In his presentation, Firdaus hoped that the presence of MES could have a positive impact on the implementation of sharia economics in Aceh Province.
Meanwhile, the elected general chairman, Aminullah Usman, in his speech emphasized and invited the involvement of all Acehnese people to play an active role with MES in encouraging the implementation of the sharia economy.
One of them is by supporting Aceh Qanun Number 11 of 2018 concerning Islamic Financial Institutions (LKS).
As a series of Muswil activities, MES Aceh also held a webinar with the theme "The Strategic Role of LKS Qanun in National Sharia Economic and Financial Development"
