The Hat Yai municipal park is Hat Yai’s most famous tourist attraction. Also known as the ‘Park of Happiness’, the park features religious, natural and cultural attractions. “It is also home to religious sculptures, such as a massive golden Standing Buddha, a jade statue of Guan-yin, and a magnificent four-faced Brahma Statue.” Source

We didn’t have time to explore the lower part of the park. That was unfortunate because on the way up the hill we saw many interesting features in the park. I would have enjoyed a walk around the park.

Located at a short distance above the park, the Guanyin, or Guan Inn Temple in Hat Yai is the largest temple in the entire Hat Yai area. The sculpture of Guanyin Bodhisattva of Mercy stands at 9.9 meters (32.48 feet) high, and is the biggest structure in Thailand.

The ‘Goddess of Mercy’. Quite a magnificent statue isn’t it?

Besides the Goddess of Mercy, there are other deities around the temple grounds. This is the legendary Guan Yu - a Chinese military general whose martial prowess was so great that, after his death, he was deified as a god.

A beautiful view of the city below.

It's great to know that you visited Hat Yai. It's close to my hometown, Phatthalung. I often visited Hat Yai when I was a child. Very big and interesting city.

The Guanyin is very magnificent and the city view is great. Great shot! ;)

Thank you for your comment.

Yes, I was up in Hat Yai a couple of weeks ago with some friends of mine. We had a great time - eating, shopping and seeing the sights.

Yes, the Guanyin and Buddha statues are all magnificent, and the views from the hills are absolutely gorgeous.

You're welcome! I'm glad to know that you and your friends had a great time there. ;)
