#TheDiaryGame - How high is the risks of doing business?

I have come across a headline and it said: "Perth's sandwhich supplier cops $30,000 fine for schoolgirl's allegeric reaction to gluten."

Now my purpose for highlighting this article is it really made me think about the high risk most businesses and business owners take in their everyday life. Looking at this article, I do not believe that the chef, owner or even the workers wanted this schoolgirl to suffer nor have any adverse reactions. But the truth is that there really is too many different types of reactions and allergies in the world today.

A typical Food and Beverage (F&B) business will have SO MUCH things to comply themselves with. It is just maddness to think that each and everyone of us could potentially be allergic to every single thing. Is the world getting way too clean and sterile? I mean, in the old days (and I'm not really that old), you would fight "fire with fire" kill the allergies by taking it head on haha.. well, that is not really a viable solution as some people could really die from their resulting reactions but still, you were the one responsible for your own health and safety.

And also to be clear, I'm not saying who is right or wrong in this example and thats just it. Fault has to be put on someone. Now a $30,000 fine is a heck of a lot of money. This could easily push a small business into the red and worst of is the reputation that this business now had to face. I mean its just really sad that this had to happen. Of course it is important to uphold said standards but to have to be publicly remanded as well as be copping a huge fine and you know what, speeding or even reckless driving, which by arguement is more dangerous as the chances of life being lost is much higher is NOWHERE as servere as this punishment. So where is the comparison in that?

So inherently the risks of doing business is really high today. But what about in Asia?

I do not recall any cases in asia where if you had a bad tummy or reaction you had the authorities step in - mostly you dealt with it yourself and usually direct with the owner. So maybe the risk for F&B businesses is lower in Asia?

Not too sure but it is certainly a point for thought and debate.

I wish you all a #betterlife and good health

Cheers!
