  1. The Arc de Triomphe (Patuxay)

The Arc de Triomphe is a must visit because it overlooks the entire Vientiane, 45 meters high and 24 meters wide. It is located in the center of Vientiane, near the Prime Minister's Office and far away from the President's Office. Construction began in 1960 and was basically completed in 1969. It is a large monument. It was originally to commemorate the victims of the war. When it was liberated in 1975, the parade of the people in Vientiane City to celebrate the victory passed here. In commemoration of this historic event, it was called the Triumphal Arch.
The first floor where the Arc de Triomphe enters is the souvenir area, and further up is the open-air platform. There is a small independent tower top in the middle of the platform. You can reach the highest point of the Arc de Triomphe by climbing the spiral staircase.

Vientiane Arch of Triumph

The Sisak Temple, located in a very inconspicuous position, has a more complicated history. It is the oldest temple in Vientiane. It was built in 1818. The king of Vientiane hoped to be independent and unyielding to other countries. He refused to marry the princess. Although it is across the road from the Lao Cultural Palace, the Lao Museum is much inferior, with low buildings and a lack of protection.
