I had recently gone to visit home and over the couple of days I had been around, I noticed that the activities of the children involved just school and their house chores, but with this challenge, it was time to shake them up.
Thank you for this challenge
I selected two physical activities namely
- Aerobic - Skipping
- Anaerobic : Sit ups
The skipping exercise is one that would require us to skip on a rope. This exercise will exert energy and also make their heart beat rate faster which is good for their health.
Skipping increases the heart beat rate and this increases blood circulation.
It also helps lighten up the muscles of the thigh, and feet. As people get older they begin to develop arthritis and rheumatism. This is largely a result of muscles that haven't been exercised and have become stiff as a result. Knowing that arthritis doesn't just happen to older people these days, it also affects younger ones, I intentionally picked this as one of the exercises we'll carry out.
The second exercise I chose is sit ups. Sit ups are good for everyone but most especially children as it helps in digestion, helps muscle formation and improvement and also helps in forming the right posture. All these were things I wanted for the children.
At first they were shouting and saying they couldn't do it albeit excitedly, but after watching me do the exercises a few times, and with constant encouragement, they became eager to partake.
The children were excited as I showed them the games we'll be doing and also did a rehearsal in front of them.

They were all very willing to participate and we kicked off immediately.
First the skipping as it would required more energy to do. We took turns, each one of us skipping .....a good number of times.

During the exercises, I observed the children were very energetic and were keen to get involved and learn new things.
It was such fun to watch them participate in the exercise.
After the exercise, I remember the kid if 11 saying she felt so energised. They all felt the same as they moved to the sit up with much gusto and enthusiasm.

By the time we were done, they were already very tired, they felt some shots of pain as their leg muscles were being released and unknotted. I believe as we keep up the exercises, so will their endurance levels increase.
Oh yes they did have fun if the smiles and happy sounds they were making was anything to go by. Their faces were brimming and eyes shining bright.

Even my 1 year old plus nephew joined in the exercise as he watched our excited talks and saw our smiling faces. Even though he couldn't partake of any exercise we did, he was all joy at the sounds of laughter around him.
Workouts and gym sessions are all serious business as people are just serious and focused on burning fat, getting in shape and all that but how about making it fun???
Even though we didn't do so much laps as this was the kids first time doing these activities so i didn't want them to strain so much but i thoroughly enjoyed myself surrounded with the boundless joy and energy of these kids. I felt like a child again while still keeping fit.😁.
@jovita30 @hyacinthfavour @pandoradiary come join this.
