This incident is related to the threat of expulsion of Palestinians from their territory which was claimed by the settlers.
At least 205 Palestinians and 17 Israeli security forces were injured in the clashes, Reuters news agency said, referring to reports from both sides.
Tensions resurfaced in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank during the holy month of Ramadan after several clashes broke out at night in Sheikh Jarrah - a region where many Palestinian families face expulsion after years of legal disputes.

Why did the conflict break out again?
Tens of thousands of Palestinians flocked to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is one of the holy places for Muslims, yesterday for Friday prayers. This is the last Friday in the holy month of Ramadan this year.
After the prayers, many chose not to return immediately to participate in protests against the expulsion of Palestinians in areas claimed by Jewish settlers.
After breaking the fast, clashes broke out in Al-Aqsa and near Sheikh Jarrah, which lies not far from the famous Damascus Gate in the Old City area of Jerusalem.
Israeli police used water cannons from armored vehicles to disperse hundreds of protesters who had gathered near the homes of threatened families.

Protesters also came from other regions. "We are used to this occupation, they first took some houses here illegally, then claimed these houses belonged to them," said protester Bashar Mahmoud, a 23-year-old who lives in the Issawiya area close to Sheikh Jarrah.
"If you don't support the group of residents here, [evictions] will take place in my house, his house, their house, and all the Palestinians who live here," he continued.
Al-Aqsa mosque management tried to calm the situation through loudspeakers. "The police must stop firing stun grenades at the congregation, the young people must be calm and quiet!"

However, a bloody clash was inevitable. The Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance service said 108 of the injured Palestinians were rushed to hospital, many of whom were shot by rubber-coated metal bullets.
One injured person had to lose one eye, and the other two seriously injured the head. Two more jaw fractures. Meanwhile, most of the injured victims were lightly injured, said a statement from the Palestinian Red Crescent.
An Israeli police spokesman stated that while protesters threw stones, firecrackers and other objects at the officers, about half of the 17 injured had to be hospitalized.
"We will take firm action against any violence, rioting or attacks on our officers and will find out who is responsible and bring them to justice," the spokesman said.
The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, said that Israel must be held responsible for the dangerous situation and for the attacks that took place in the holy city. He also called on the UN Security Council to immediately hold a special meeting to respond to the violence.
Thats sad...I hope the conflict is resolved now
