I was called up for a training Gig with a choir and while waiting for the choristers to assemble I got to witness the choir director rehearsing a worship session with a member of the choir
She started singing, trying to sing the line-ups of her song she was going to deliver on sunday.

So in the course of her singing I observed some things.

She started with a pitch way over her range and lacked proper breath support to hold the notes this made her struggle. You could literally hear that her voice might give way at any time

But something happened, the choir director was so annoyed at her and began to tell her how disappointed he was, funny enough she got to do better on a second trial but I got to observe her countenance after the whole session and I could see sadness and a deflated self esteem and that struck a chord in my mind.

There is always a better way to get things done.
He could have found a better approach to make her do better

some singers may need that extra push from you but it doesn't require you making them feel less of themselves.

you might get the job done but you are without your knowledge building ROBOTS!!!

Everyone came from a different environment which has shaped overall abilities.

So tackle the issue and not the individual.

So that we would in-turn Build a better, Healthy Musical Environment for Upcoming Singers.
