CONTEST: "The Keyword of the Week" Hero

in hive-107855 •  2 months ago

To whom you consider a hero totally depends on how you define a hero! For me, the hero could be any person who can give a way to life, who can give hope, who can make a person smile. I redefine my hero by using Rumi's words. "A hero is a ladder, a life boat or a lamp for those who are struggling, suffering and fighting with their darker lives."

The very first hero which was introduced by my grandma was a king and a father who saved her two daughters in a storm. In school I learned about many national, international and religious heroes. With time, I dig up many mythical and real heroes. As a teenager, like bird minded girls, I thought a hero was a prince charming who came into life and there would be showers of thousands of colors. Teenage was gone, but unfortunately he didn't arrived 🙃. Well then came the typical hero of movies and novels. Irfan Khan is a favorite. His spell casting voice wouldn't let anyone go before the end of the picture. His remarkable work can be seen in Life of Pi, Maqbool, Lunchbox.

Last week was a little disturbing and in this situation I found Al Pacino's "The Scent of a Women". The story of a retired colonel who has a very sharp olfactory sense and can recognize any woman from the perfume she used. With this blessing, he was striving in a forever darkness. Despite his blindness, he was thriving to his fullest life. Colonel wore a stony accent, maybe to avoid sympathy for a blind man.

The Godfather fame actor leads me to a world where I see the epic of human imagination constructed with scents, some warm emotions and a desire for life to make it loveable. The fragrances which he can feel, flowing from his emotions and lit the road on which the blind colonel was enjoying his journey. But a wave of despondency wrapped him and he decided "to blow his brain". At the heights of desperation, he delivers a dialog which reflects his intense desire to live at an edge where he is going to finish his life. And the dialogue is:

"Do you ever have the feeling, that you want to go And still have the feeling, that you want to stay"

These were the finest expression of the coexistence of contradictory extremes in a single being. Al Pacino's skillful expressions depict it perfectly. The character of Colonel Frank Slade is a hero for me. And the reason is simple! He brought hope and a smile for me.

Hello @mehwish-almas
This post is a good effort, by calling Irrfan Khan your favorite actor you have again proved that artists cannot be bound by boundaries. I would like to appreciate your choice, you must watch one of his movies "Madaari", it is a film on a serious subject in which he has shown the heights of his acting. May his soul rest in peace.

Thank you.

Ameen...

Irfan Khan, with his magnetic personality, is an unforgettable person. And thank you for your suggestion. I haven't watched it yet, but like his other movies, I heard a lot about it. I'll definitely watch it.

Namaste ji ,
Slowly the curtains will open and I will get to know the hero and heroine of your choice, but I have not seen any Pakistani movie till date. I have heard that people of our Punjab and border provinces watch Pakistani movies.
Thanks

The Pakistani industry is in building process, some good entertaining and commercial movies are produced here. but I avoid commercial content. Lal kabootar , tamasha and manto are some very good productions. Sajal Ali, Dure fishan , Black Lively and Anne Hathaway are favorite. what about you?

Good to know that our neighbors watch Pakistani content.

Actually I like fast action and suspense movies, I have seen so many Hindi, English movies that one cannot even imagine, now currently there are many Bollywood, Hollywood, Korean, series running on OTT, but I always like action and suspense. Pakistani content is hardly available in our country. But I had seen comedy dramas like "Bakra Kisson Par" and "Buddha Gharpar Hai" by Omar Sharif years ago.It was very good comedy.
It was surprising to know that even after 75 years your film industry has not yet developed although both our countries have the same roots.

There are many characters in a person's life who play the role of a hero at different stages.

Teenage is gone, but unfortunately, he didn't arrive' .

Only a few lucky people get to experience this.

I've seen many of Irfan Khan's movies, and he had a very unique character. Enjoyed reading your expressions about heros.

Have a good day

lucky people get to experience this.

here actually, I mean the fancies (not the feelings) which we made in tender age, like the level of perfection which we expect doesn't exist in real life. As I have many flaws, so do the others.......

Enjoyed reading your expressions

This line is definitely an honor.A big thanks bro for being here.

He brought hope and a smile for me.

Perfect:)

A hero must inspire through the actions and not by the words only.

I'm all ears and curious to know🤔

For a very short time in my youth, for what felt like a few days, I also waited for the prince on the white horse... Of course, I didn't care about the prince - I wanted the horse... ;-))

  • I wanted the horse... ;-))

Hahahaha...that's why they leave their horses at home and come on foot.

a teacher one time criticized me when I was a young adult. "You're waiting for a knight in shining armor." As if this was wrong. Since then there have been many. I have been rescued many times. Too many times to even count unless I sit down and spend several hours trying to enumerate them.

I guess both views are right, and it depend on the situation.

Good point...
