A Thousandfold...

"For you a thousandfold..."

The phrase that continuously echoed in her mind,
This she whispered genuinely and kind,
Beautiful phrase yet learned in a burning run.

"Only if you were authentic", uttered she,
"You and I could have been Us and We",
She fell for his words, his gestures too,
Never-ending fairytale that sounds so true,
But in this, he made her believe,
That in happily ever after a "We" could live.

What could have been thy love?
The idea of him seems so vivid and clear,
Yet, when she woke up, he was nowhere near,
Initially, she was at ease,
For the path to her can easily be found,
Never anxious for "You and I" are said to be bound.

Then the moment came,
When the waiting seems like a counting game,
Decades have passed,
Yet his shadow continued to be non-existent,
She lingers at the recollections of him,
In denial that she was played,
Not an ounce of truth was even displayed,
Never believing that she is the tragic heroine,
Aware of the beginning and the losing end,
Yet she still dared.

He had committed crimes, heinous acts,
That her body was never left intact-
Around her neck ulterior motives were tied,
Bound her heart using a rope of flowers that died,
Shackled her with his untrue kindness,
Muzzled by his forged calmness,
Sabotage her eyes, only to see his facade,
Stabbed repeatedly by those promises built in fraud,
And in wilderness, her body was discarded with insincerity.
No need for conviction for he was truly guilty

All the while those acts were never done behind her,
For she never took those gazes away,
Committed right before her eyes,
Only that these were blinded by his lies.

Never had she realized that his ulterior motives were pain,
She continuously holds them like flowers in vain,
Convincing herself that they were red Daisies,
Rejecting the truth of being poisoned Poppies,
The sadness lies in her,
She knew the difference,
For it was her own garden.

She whispered,
"For you a thousandfold of pardoned red daisies in an endless meadow, I will hold. This I will keep in bloom and in sorrow".


About the writing: I was in the coffee shop earlier, when this couple walked in and sat across the table right in front of me. Initially, I paid no heed to them, but then I accidentally overheard their conversation and thought that they were writing their vows to each other and were planning their wedding program. This inspired me to write although, the only difference is they got their happy ending, and my writing seems to end on the contrary. And I have no idea why.😅
