Anarkali through my eyes...

Title

Anarkali yearns for the sky to embrace earth!

Historian's Version sr

Anarkali waited, hidden behind the old bargad tree, her eyes scanning every path for a glimpse of Salim. Morning faded into noon, and doubt crept in. What if the emperor, Akbar, knew? she wondered. Her heart raced with every distant sound, fearing Salim might be stopped, or worse. Then, finally, she saw him, a glimpse of her beloved, but his gaze slid past her, indifferent. Why? Because Akbar was beside him? Still...

She clutched her veil and pretended to gather weeds, hoping her trembling hands wouldn't give her away. Salim’s fleeting glance, cold and empty, shattered her. She recalled their last meeting when he’d whispered promises to meet her at this very place. She had kept that promise, waiting under the tree each day.

That night, she heard the news: Salim’s wedding to another was to be announced. Her world crumbled, and she realized the love she’d waited for was only hers.

The folklore surrounding Anarkali is rich and varied, with numerous versions that blur the lines between fact and fiction. This legendary figure, often associated with a tragic love story between her and Prince Salim (later Emperor Jahangir), has inspired countless retellings across cultures and generations.

In all these versions, one common thread is that Anarkali is depicted as a beautiful courtesan whose love defied the constraints of her status and societal norms, making it a forbidden love from the beginning. In the culture of the subcontinent, where the Mughals reigned for centuries, her story has had a profound impact. These tales have been passed down through generations, glorifying the themes of enduring love, resilience, and the sacrifices a woman can make in the face of an imperialized society for her beloved.

My version of Anarkali with the help of bing.ai

For those who don't know, this Urdu version and the italicized text in English is my version of Anarkali story for the very interesting task prompt from @joslud and @solperez regarding micro - story. I never thought I would participate in these assignments, but it was too good to pass up. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this version. We have been hearing this folklore since childhood, and now we even remember it by heart. But reading it again was a delight. Many dramas and films have been made about this folklore. However, what I like is a particular song. You see, just as this task is about microstories, this song is like a micromovie.

This 7 minute song video has more historical authenticity than combined all the bollywood, lollywood, mughal movies and series

So you could say that sometimes a micro version can be more impactful, as Joslud mentioned in his publication. This is the task for 1st week :)

Last but not least, while you suggested that I should post it on preferably on my blog, I’ve decided to publish it on Dream Steem instead, as it aligns more closely with its essence.

I do hope I understood the assignment correctly! Either way, it’s all there to read ;))

P.S: It was too difficult to follow Markdown in Urdu, but I tried. It took me six times the amount of time to align my text in urdu with the English version. Please note that the word count should only apply to the Urdu version and the italicized English version.

This doesn't really match my idea of love, but there's no doubt that such stories have inspired some of the most romantic theatre plays and films. We humans just love drama ;-)

O yes, these stories are good for dramatics, folklore, tales and such...

Who wants a love like this in real life. Not me, at least ;)) I like drama only when it ends on my terms. Hehe

Hi, @weisser-rabe

I haven't seen Dream Steem for days. But the love and gratitude remain.
You are cordially invited to participate.

I have to look if I find the time... It's strange last weeks. I'll do my best!

Me encantó leerte.

Indeed!

True love stories aren’t bound by endings; they linger, timeless, defying the need for a happy conclusion...

Ciertamente.

Attention @soulfuldreamer

In your comment on the evaluation, you present something very interesting. Regarding the number of words that a particular language uses to tell or describe something.

Urdu tends to require more words, sometimes 5-10% more, or even higher, due to additional characters needed to convey the same ideas.

Well, dear researcher, I would like you to develop this topic in the essay for task 2.

How many words and characters are needed in my Urdu language, to be considered a micro-story?
(that is a first idea, I invite you to ask yourself about it and start looking for an answer in the essay) 🙏🙏

On it :)))

@joslud

What I understand from this comment is that you want me to develop this topic instead of this or in conjunction with this ⬇️:

Task 2: Write a creative essay.
Instructions:

a. Research the micro-story writers of your country or continent. Choose one that catches your attention.

b. Write a creative essay about the style of writing micro-stories of that author selected by you.

In a creative essay, you write your reflections, analysis, and evaluate a topic of interest. In this case, we want you to focus on the micro-story as a literary genre.

I think it would be great if you did, but that's my opinion. Not an order. 🤩🤪

I'm new to this whole homework/assignment scene. Maybe those who've done this before in some capacity have the hang of it already...

In short I'm feeling a little dumb. 🤪 Lol

So I am asking again:

What's the assignment? I should develop this topic instead of the task 2 from you or in conjunction with it?

Dear, @soulfuldreamer

Well, you have to ask questions to learn.

But I have learned, and I like to do it, as a teacher, not to answer everything a student asks me. I think I do them a better favor, letting them find their answers and make decisions. Even if they make mistakes.
For me, that is learning.

One of the signs I like to see is that students believe and feel like fools. Their mental box is starting to move.

In short I'm feeling a little dumb. 🤪 Lol

I never thought I would participate in these assignments, but it was too good to pass up.

Finally, u paid a visit to the “writing challenge”, I’ve always known that you will fit in well in this category…lol😊😊😊

That night, she heard the news: Salim’s wedding to another was to be announced. Her world crumbled, and she realized the love she’d waited for was only hers.

If there’s one thing that pains so much is when your love isn’t reciprocated. All your efforts is just been wasted on the wrong person..

If there’s one thing that pains so much is when your love isn’t reciprocated. All your efforts is just been wasted on the wrong person..

Yet, they become the finest tales of love, woven in moments that live beyond endings... Ah!

True!

I think women have always been like this... Naive, gullible, loving with all their might and still end up getting wounded...

Thank you so much for stopping by ❣️

Hello back :)

I'm glad you liked the images! This folklore is incredibly rich, with so many versions and numerous adaptations in film and theater. It only felt fair to include some of these impressions. Thank you for appreciating my version of Anarkali.

Thank you indeed!

🤗👍

Hi there

I'm really honored that you watched the video! Were you able to understand it? The language barrier can be a bit of an issue, but I think the performances and overall representation convey the essence well.

Thank you for liking my version :)

Greetings dear,

Love has many shades, but I believe the deepest one is unrequited love. It's so painful yet precious.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

"@soulfuldreamer, your poignant rendition of Anarkali's tale resonates deeply. The Urdu version alongside the English translation offers a rich cultural experience. Your narrative masterfully captures the essence of unrequited love, transcending linguistic boundaries.

The song lyrics you shared evoke the timeless beauty of love and longing. The historical context and imagery woven throughout are stunning.

Your reflection on the micro-story format and its cultural significance sparks intriguing discussions. Exploring the nuances of language and word count in Urdu compared to English adds depth to the conversation.

Hi, Soul full of dreams ✨

  • .- Always, unless otherwise specified, write the story in your language. This course is multicultural, and I want to celebrate that.

  • .- Yes, the idea of the course is to recount the story in English.

  • .- I accept your complaint regarding the number of words, although even using wordcounter, I get 160 words.

  • .- The instruction for the first assignment was quite broad. “Don’t copy it, just create a new version.”, accepted.
As a teacher, I am getting ahead of myself by asking you to make a microstory in the first lesson. Yes, I ask you, please, to understand the purpose of my feedback, which will always go after the goal of adapting your writer’s mindset to write with fewer words, looking for the very essence of the story. Never against the story you created.

  • .- I got ahead of myself (again), but you discovered something essential in short stories: short titles that are a crucial part of the story. ✅
    ..

Woman!!! 👏👏
Also, I want to appreciate my admiration, on the one hand, of your speech that encloses the very essence of language, (I don't know if you realize the important statement you made, seeing it from the Ontology of Language): The power and limits of language in the construction of the being that I am.

"stay within certain limits: you can change the story a little, but not drastically (maybe 10 or 20 degrees, not 180). Otherwise, it could have infinite beginnings and endings,"

Your statement contains that truth: changing the way I narrate and conclude my life stories, changes your mental model, your worldview towards freedom or, limits it and imprisons you in rigid mental models.

If I were a Zen master, I would say that you are on the verge of a revelation.

Do you remember the stories of “thinking in circles”?

As a teacher, I am getting ahead of myself by asking you to make a microstory in the first lesson

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand this? Do I have to write the story agian?

Do you remember the stories of “thinking in circles”?

O yes, I do :))

Hi, you don't have to post again. The comment was meant to indicate that I'm getting ahead of you in your learning process.

Don't worry, you've already passed task 1.

Ok :)

Hi @joslud

I had a busy day today and didn’t receive the notification for your latest post tag. I just got a chance to log onto Steemit and visit your page to catch up on the latest developments. Will be following up on that post :)

I'm currently working on the essay for Task 2, but there's a challenge with the markdown—it doesn’t fully support Urdu. Urdu’s right-to-left alignment tends to confuse the markup commands, and applying any formatting becomes very difficult. I have had previously written. This has made the process quite time-consuming, but I'm hopeful I’ll complete it by the deadline.

Hi, @soulfuldreamer

If you find it difficult
