Deutsch im Anschluß…

Once upon a time, a majestic forest stretched from the distant east to the even more distant west... Its treetops seemed to touch the sky and its floor was covered in a thick carpet of moss. Birds sang in the branches and the rustling of the leaves told stories of times gone by. This forest was not only a place of beauty, but also a place of life and deep all-encompassing meaning for all who entered it.

But over time, something began to change. People who until recently had admired and respected the forest turned their attention to other things. Technology advanced and the modern world seemed to have forgotten about the forest. The birds sang more and more quietly and the rustling of the leaves sounded fainter. The trees sensed the absence of humans and began to wither, as if their spirit of life was slowly fading.

One day the forest awoke with a heavy heart. The trees felt lonely and forgotten. Their leaves were no longer really green and their branches leaned sadly towards the earth. Even the moss on the ground seemed to have lost its bright colour. The animals that used to play among the trees had moved away in search of a place where they could feel alive again.

A slow and creeping death begins, a silent demise... It is sad to see, even the once so nature-loving people take note of this with great regret. And continue with their daily routine of technical precision and fulfilment of duty. They need a lot of space: the forest has to make way (it no longer looks so beautiful anyway...)

People, all together, could STILL stop and reverse this development. It would STILL be possible to restore a healthy ecosystem. There is STILL hope!

If we all manage to shift our priorities away from ever more growth, consumption and ownership and towards genuine sustainability, mindfulness and closeness to nature, the forest would have a chance to recover worldwide...

In time, the majesty of the forest would return. People would once again begin to truly recognise, appreciate and protect its beauty. They would come back to enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest, its healing power. The birds would sing louder than ever before and the rustling of the leaves would tell of a sadness that had been overcome.

Oh, how wonderful that would be!

Deutsche Version:

A sad, but very truth filled story.

If we all manage to shift our priorities away from ever more growth, consumption and ownership and towards genuine sustainability, mindfulness and closeness to nature, the forest would have a chance to recover worldwide...

Humans are the bane of the earth. Greed, greed, greed.

It won't come back, it will be returned

Yes, perhaps we won't recognise it, the new forest. Perhaps something completely unexpected will emerge.

Hey - how nice of you to pop in again! I hope you are doing well. Sort of.

Glad to see and read))) In fact, there are no surprises, when you put your hand on the bark of a living tree you begin to feel a different life. Especially in the summer, when the sun heats the pine trunk and the stupefying smell of resin penetrates the nostrils, gives a pleasant cheerfulness and begins to dizzy. Or stopping under the crown of an oak tree, when the wind sways the entire weight of the leaves and you begin to hear the music of nature, not the noise of a running engine, not the screams of children, but the ringing of green leaves with sometimes heavy chords of creaking branches.
We live, it’s difficult, but we live)))) and we hope

Yeah, I'm a forest bather too... ;-))

What can I say...? You can't do anything but hope, right? It's terrible.

Such a heartfelt post. Did you know so many of our animals we have lost only in a span of 3-4 years. The national animal of Pakistan, Ibex is an endangered specie. We have already lost the passenger pigeon. We are losing sea creatures due to millions of tons of industrial waste dumping in the oceans. The habitat of forests is diminishing due to our needs. I only wonder what world are we leaving behind for our next generation...

Ps: oh and yes, I read you and other users messages for me. Decided to at least get back a bit on this platform. Will still take some time for posting but still something's better than nothing haha. Also, how about a game of chess just like the old times ;))

Hihi...

I don't know if you read science fiction - but in most utopias there are neither forests nor animals...

With pleasure! Perhaps you've read somewhere that we're currently renovating an old property, which takes a lot of time. But there's always a gap for a game of chess ;-))

Do let me know whenever you have time... Tomorrow maybe?

I think so - I will call you when I'm at home.
