Deutsch im Anschluß...
Good evening, Dear Dreamers!
You can't imagine how tired I am of the topic of AI and AI-generated texts on the Steem. Or maybe you can...
I grew up at a time when pocket calculators were still the absolute technical highlight and the only electronic tool available. A lot has happened since then. Major developments have been made that have brought us advantages, but also problems. Well, that's always the case and the question remains as to how we deal with it.
Let me not talk about intelligent speakers and apps and smart homes - they all fit into the content of my presentation, but they shouldn't play a role here today. No, we will limit ourselves to the use of AI as a text generator for Steem contributions.
To be clear from the outset: there is no law against it. It is not illegal. It is not a criminal offence. Steem itself is a platform on which there is no legal framework apart from a netiquette that has the character of a recommendation. The violation of copyrights of other legal entities could be justiciable, but must be conclusively proven in any case.
Nevertheless, I take the liberty of finding the use of AI for the production of creative texts stupid, indecent and dishonest. I just don't like it! I'm someone who loves words and working with them. I read the writing of great and lesser-known authors because I enjoy their imagination, their eloquence, the depths of their ideas and the human element between the lines. So I simply find AI inappropriate in this context.
It gets really corrosive when this abuse is perpetrated for the sole purpose of getting more or higher votes. We don't need to discuss this - it's the order of the day. THAT has nothing whatsoever to do with blogging.
So far, so clear. Something else is also clear: Dream Steem is my little universe here within the big Steem. I have certain ideas for it, which I have chiselled into my house rules, aka author guidelines. I expect them to be adhered to!
Nobody is forced to publish right here. No one is being dragged by the hair and coerced in any way. Please, dear AI writers: go your separate ways and try your luck somewhere else. Stay on your blog; there are also Communities where authorities don't pay attention, where they don't recognise the difference or where it's simply part of the usual procedure. I don't begrudge you the space, any readers, even the votes.
Please: just not here! This is a protected space for authors who can and want to create a meaningful, well thought-out text without the help of an AI. This is an AI-free zone, so to speak - unless it is used in an artistic way, as @blackmedschn once showed us, for example.
Note: the use of AI in such a case is significantly more complex and time-consuming than the simple knitting of a normal post.
Back to everyday reality. Our Community is not one of those under the watchful eye and protective umbrella of the sc curators. We don't get high votes here. There is simply no reason to bother us with AI-generated texts. Please leave it alone once and for all!
This is my appeal for insight and reason; we don't seem to share the same values and standards. I don't enjoy moderating posts that I consider dubious. I don't like showing anyone the exit because they don't abide by my few rules. I don't like looking for evidence, scanning texts and still ending up unsure about the origin of some posts. Because there is no such thing as reliable identification any more. I consider myself relatively accurate when it comes to this, but of course I could be wrong.
@islariver - I think your texts are great! However, I am very sure that some of them were not really written by you. They contain typical AI inconsistencies - I had named them in more detail, which do not make me doubt my judgement.
You can write. So why these ‘slips’?
@emmawalt - what a pity that I don't consider your first text in our Community to be hand-written...
To close the circle: I don't want to rule the world, I don't want to regulate the Steem. What I want is peace and fairness in my Community! I don't want the members to fight amongst themselves, spy on each other and make accusations under their posts. That is wasted energy! Kitty - I don't need to mention you for you to read this appeal: it's good that you are more open than almost anyone else here in expressing your opinion and standing by it consistently. I admire that. There is no need to draw the linguistic sword and declare war. In other words, there are arguments that should not be had because they do not lead to the desired result, cost energy and are frustrating.
I regret anyone who has not yet understood this! I don't want to burden myself with it any more, I want to preserve the joy of steeming for myself. Anyone who feels the same way: welcome to this oasis in the middle of an AI-infested desert.
Steem on!
Yours @weisser-rabe
Deutsche Version:
Also finde ich KI in diesem Kontext einfach unangemessen.
So weit, so klar.
Also warum diese „Ausrutscher“?
Steem on!
Euer @weisser-rabe
That's it. And I think this difference will increase over time. Between those of us who grew up with pocket calculators or electronic wristwatches at most (oh, I loved them back then) and the current generations who grow up with phones and tablets in their pockets. It's just that standards change over time, sometimes drastically. We can even exclude representatives of poor countries, who often lack any moral inhibitions to earn $1 more, whether in your community or elsewhere.
I think you and I are going to have more and more trouble in the future with all of this. Until our generation simply one day disappears with its "outdated" understandings and is replaced by another.
Anyway, good luck to your community and I hope this call of yours helps in some way for its development in the future!
P.S. I love this handsome guy in the picture 😻

If I go to my neighbour and ask him where which rules and laws apply in connection with this and that technical application, and if I can have some confidence in this neighbour's knowledge and he gives me detailed answers that inform me well - then that is helpful and purposeful.
But if I go to my neighbour and ask him to write a story or an article on this and that topic and if I then publish this story or this article and do not write the name of my neighbour, who was the author, but my own name underneath it, then that is about as reprehensible as imposture and partly a stupid self-deception, as has already been said here.
Who buys a ready meal and serves it to his/her guests, claiming to have cooked it himself/herself? Yes, there seem to be people like that - I feel sorry for them that they think they need to do that.
Even if I don't translate it into English myself, I make a note of who did it for me: I owe it to MYSELF.

I feel you: every single word of it!
And you’re absolutely right: it’s an exhausting subject. No matter how eloquently we address the issue, there are always those loopholes or arguments that seem to take us right back to square one.
I don’t have much to add because you’ve hit the nail on the head.
Just one small thing I want to reiterate (as I’ve mentioned before):
Please don’t misuse AI. Readers can easily see through it, and honestly, you don’t need a machine to figure this out.
Using AI in an artistic capacity actually requires more effort than a regular post. I once organized an autobiography contest where an old cranky chair acted as the judge and replied to contestants in old slang English. I would first craft a reply, then adapt it to the required tone using AI, and finally refine and tweak it as needed. This process easily quadrupled my workload. So, I’d never want anyone to accuse me of taking shortcuts. Trust your intellect, this isn’t rocket science really.

You have pretty much written everything. I'm also tired of this AI debate but this cat and your name with it lured me into reading.
I used to think it's about integrity but now I believe it's more about the new mindsets that are tech-infested. We can't do much about it. Things will only worsen with time. But yeah, it shouldn't be so hard to simmer down AI influx when it comes to writing something in a creative space like Dream Steem. If you can't do that, it simply means you shouldn't be here.

When I felt the pains of AI was when one of my client who owed me for more than 3 months now - replied me on WhatsApp using AI. He just copied my text and paste on AI. The AI replied, he copied the entire replies and send it to me.
Well, that was annoying and I told him bluntly. That was lack of regards.
Unfortunately, 65% of articles are now written by AI here in the blog, because almost everyone wants to earn high votes from whales and win the learning challange weekly contest... and they are making it🤷♂️ afterall.
While some organic writers / bloggers are not considered as active users (with consequences 😉).
The issue of AI in writing contents is and would be a very big threat here now and in the future.
However, there is a solution...😊

I am curious to hear where you found the data that 65% of all content is written by AI. You climbed up very fast. Did you use AI to be noticed?
If it comes to AI it's not about content only but comments as well. What is your opinion about that?
A big threat? What will you do if Justin Sun allows, better introduces AI, or even makes it standard? After all this is meant to be a place for investors the rest? Most likely all the text is just that bit extra to brighten up the place and promote Steem and Tron.
For more info/his ideas see X.
Wat are organic writers?

There could be a Litmus test (is this correct for German Lackmus-Test?):
Take a post from such a blogger and publish it elsewhere with your instead of his/her name, and then let's see what the original author says. If the text was AI generated or stolen from another source, the author may remain indifferent. If not, he/she will feel discomforted.
I do not propose to do so in reality, I just propose this as an experiment of thought to clear (if possible) the pre-assumption or question of different values.

AI is only used by people who don't have the fruits of their own thinking. Reading this article might help you overcome the AI problem.

No. That's not my point. I don't look for help (tools, hints,...) for detecting AI. I'm able to read myself. I don't want any persecution mania, witch hunts or the formation of fronts. Not on an issue where we have no control over developments.

What can I say? I just absolutlely love your stance and will support and help enforce it as much as I can.
I just hate AI eanabled text creation because it is used, not as a tool, but, as a way to cheat yourself into a status that you don't deserve.
I never tried it and never will, as I find no real purpose in it.
Steem on!

Well, I think your right on most of the use cases, but AI could be a very good tol to use for researching different scenarios or circumstances in project work, not in writing articles and blogposts ;)
For instance I/we use these AI-tools in our daily work as promotor of properties and project developer of PV-Power-Plants all over Europe, and there is a lot of changing regulations, involved authorities and law sources, in the case of property its change of prices, taxes, and regional building areas, therefor we use AI because otherwise we would stuck in studying just countless variants of the same plan, law, property, and our business would not produce any income.
So as you can imagine there is for sure some use cases for AI´s but simply not for writing articles, these has to come out of the head or the heart of the authors let´s call it "proof of humanbrain"
