Hello Guys! This lecture has been very enlightening. I have learnt quite a lot from it. Here is my Homework Post.
Satoshi Nakamoto
When the name Satoshi Nakamoto is mentioned, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is what comes to mind. Satoshi Nakamoto, is who we refer to as the father and creator of Cryptocurrencies. The identity behind the name is unknown. It is unknown whether he is male or she is female, old or young or whether they are a group of people or not.
Even though the identity of this individual is unknown, he/ she created the first cryptocurrency, authored the Bitcoin Whitepaper and made the first transaction in the cryptocurrency world. In their effort, to create the cryptocurrency, they implemented the blockchain system, which has proven over the years to be a very reliable and secure type of database. It was in the Bitcoin Whitepaper, that this name was first seen. And there have been quite a lot conspiracies and theories around who is actually Satoshi Nakamoto.
Theories of Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity.
The identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is internet and the world at large. Truth be told, many theories concerning the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. But one way or the other, all of them have been disproved. Here are some of these claims.
Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto
If the name Satoshi Nakamoto is googled, the pictures of Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto is what pops up. In her attempt to find the person behind the Satoshi Nakamoto identity, a Newsweek Columnist by name of Leah McGrath Goodman happened to chance on a 64 year old, Japanese-American; who was a retired physicist and educated engineer, whose birthname was Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto. The fact that his birthname, was the same as Satoshi Nakamoto spiked her attention. His qualifications and work experience pertaining to Bitcoin made her think he was indeed the one. She did more research about him and found out that he worked for few corporations and US military. She became very suspicious when she realized that some of his projects were classified.
On confronting him for the first time about Bitcoin, he thought she was referring to one of his confidential projects, so he said "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it. It's been turned over to other people. They are in charge of it now. I no longer have any connection." This made her misunderstand what he said contextually and she thought he was talking in reference to Bitcoin.
In March 2014, she published an article revealing Dorian as Satoshi Nakamoto in the Newsweek Column. He publicly denied all claims that he was the Satoshi Nakamoto behind the creation of Bitcoin. Leah McGrath also came out to say his response was "careful but revealing" and "he tacitly acknowledged his role in the Bitcoin project."
Hal Finney
Hal Finney was a computer scientist and a developer for the PGP Corporation. He is known for being a part of the first bitcoin transaction. He received the first bitcoin that Satoshi Nakamoto sent as an initiation of Bitcoin. He was also found receiving emails from Satoshi Nakamoto. Seeing this, it started speculating that he was Satoshi Nakamoto because of how heavily linked he was to Satoshi Nakamoto in the whole bitcoin project. But he came out to deny all these allegations and it was later found out to be true. He later died on the 28th of August, 2014 of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS).
Wei Dai
Wei Dai is one of the very few recognized pioneers of the Crypto world. He is a computer engineer, who is known for his work in the Crypto++ project and the VMAC project. Even though he stepped away from the Crypto++ Project to work on other projects, his work was and is still maintained by the Crypto++ community.
What is the current value of Bitcoin on the day you are performing this task? Calculate the USD value of one satoshi of the current value. (Show full working and to 3 s.f).
The Satoshi is the smallest unit of Bitcoin that is transactable. It can likened to the coin system of the FIAT. Just like how One(1) Cent is the smallest unit of the US Dollar, that is how Satoshi is also the smallest unit of Bitcoin. At the time I was doing my assignment, the price of Bitcoin was $43,614.88
Here is how to calculate the value of One (1) Satoshi;
1 Satoshi = 1/100,000,000
1 Bitcoin = $43,614.88
1 Satoshi = 1/100000000 × 43,614.88
1 Satoshi = $0.0004361488
1 Satoshi = $0.000436 (to 3 s.f)
So per the price of Bitcoin, the equivalent of One(1) Satoshi is $0.000436
What is the current value of Ether on the day you are performing this task? Calculate the USD value of one Gwei of the current value. (Show full working and to 3 s.f).
Gwei refers to the smallest unit of the Ethereum Blockchain. Like the Cent is the smallest unit of the US Dollar, that how the Gwei is also the smallest unit of Ethereum.
Here is how to calculate the value of Gwei;
1 Gwei = 1/1,000,000,000 ×1 ETH
1 ETH = $3067.67
1 Gwei = 1/1000000000 × 3067.67
1 Gwei = $0.00000306767
1 Gwei = $0.00000307 (to 3 s.f)
Per the price of Ethereum, 1 Gwei is equivalent to $0.00000307
Transfer 0.001 Steem to an account. Then send 0.0001 steem. Show what happens and state why.
The smallest amount of Steem can be transferred on the blockchain is 0.001. That is, any amount beyond the 3 decimal place would not be transacted. In the screenshot below, it can be seen that because the decimal place exceeds the three (3) decimal places, a red "Use 3 decimal places" has been inscribed; indicating that the smallest transactable amount is 0.001
It can also be seen from the screenshot below that 0.001 is the smallest transactable unit of Steem.
CONCLUSION
This lecture has given me insight and educated me very well on the founding fathers of the Cryptocurrencies and how they also came about. Many thanks to @awesononso for giving such an easy to understand lecture that has really educated to this point. I hope you like my submission.
Hello @abanksforever,
Thank you for taking interest in this class. Your grades are as follows:
Feedback and Suggestions
From your wallet you did not perform the transfer of 0.001 Steem. Always follow instructions.
There are important points missing on the topic.
You should have mentioned at least one more identity theory different from the ones in the lesson.
Thanks again as we anticipate your participation in the next class.

I’m really grateful for your attention.
For performing the transaction, I thought it was the understanding behind the question, that was necessary but all the same, you are right.
For the theories, the question explicitly asked for us to write on two(2) theories. I just strictly followed the instructions.
I’ll see to it that my compliance to instructions is always top notch.
