Hello Steemians! Well come to my post. How are you all? Hopefully you will be doing well. Today I'm here to participate in this Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 10 Week 3 in the Steemit Crypto Academy. The topic of this challenge is "Reward System on Steemit Blockchain". Does the attribution of rewards on steemit follow the same convergent linear reward curve since its creation or has it undergone some modifications? If yes, talk about the causes of this change?

As we all know that Steemit is a decentralized social media platform which was created in 2016. Since its creation it has undergo several attributions in its reward system. From the beginning the Steemit follow the Quadratic linear reward curve system but it undergo several changes with the passage of time. There was many reasons behind these changes. At that time the reward distribution ratio was set according to that equation "f(x)= x^2."

According to this system a user was rewarded according to his SP. So we can say that if a user holds a huge SP, he will get huge earnings. All his earnings depends upon his SP. So that was a type of injustice with the new comers and with that Steemians who has low SP and who can't invest in Steemit. So it became very important to overcome this problem. So to overcome that problem the reward system of Steemit was changed into linear reward system in 2017.

According to This system the Steemit users was rewarded with this f(x)=x equation. According to this equation the users get rewards with the help of their sp by voting and curating the Posts. But later that system also create problems for the reward system. Through this system the users may do self voting and that thing may disturb the quality of contents.

So avoiding the misuse of the rewards, the reward system of Steemit again witnessed some changings in 2019. So this time the more effective and more reliable reward system was launched. This system is known as convergent linear reward system which is based on the equation f(x)=x^2/x+1.

It is true that this is the More effective reward system for the platform because it increase the engagement between the users by commenting and upvoting the posts of one another. This rewards system use the proof of brain (PoB) mechanism. And that is why that system is considered more reliable and it is still applicable in this platform since the 2019.

Reasons behind the changes of Steemit reward system

It is true that if something is causing harm to a human being or to other human beings or to a specific platform And it becomes very important to replace or eliminate the item which is causing problems. So the same thing happened with the Steemit platform. So let's discuss about the general reasons behind these changes in the reward system of Steemit platform.

• The both linear and the quadratic rewards system causing the misuse in the reward system. So to eliminate or stop that misusing the change in the reward system became very compulsory.

• The another important reason was to improve the working Steemit and make that platform more fair and clear so the more content creators and investors may attract towards that platform.

• To increase the engagement between the users and supporting each other by upvoting and commenting on their posts.

• To eliminate the boundaries between old and new users and make that platform equal for everyone was also an important reason behind these changes.

Show the added value that brought it this convergent linear reward curve, and how this system is applied on Steemit Blockchain.

The convergent linear reward system has brought many positive impacts on Steemit platform and that system has played a vital role in growth and development of that platform. In the past it has seen that the users who have huge SP called whales. And these whales had a control on the Steemit platform because with the help of their huge SP they can do self voting and can earn more rewards.

So that convergent linear reward system has discouraged them and decreased their dominance over the platform. With the implantation of that system he whales can upvote other users posts instead of doing self voting. So we can say that this convergent linear reward system has totally eliminate the self voting system and reduced the boundaries between the Whales and the new users.

That system has also played a major role in the growth of Steemit platform. This is because that convergent linear reward force the users to support each other by upvoting and commenting. By doing this the engagement between the users increase which is the main motto of that platform, and the overall growth of the platform also increase. Thus these things make the platform more active.

With the implantation of that convergent linear reward system the distance between huge SP holders and low SP holders users is is totally increased. So in this regard we can say that the users who are creating high quality contents and having low SP, they can also get rewards equal to the high sp holders. So that thing also motivates the new comers and the quality content creators.

What is the difference between isolated curation and community curation? What type of curation do you prefer for quality content in Steem Blockchain?

There are two types of terms which are used for the curation on Steemit platform. They are Isolated Curation and Community Curation. Let's discuss about them.

• Isolated Curation: As shown from its name it is a type of curation in which a curator can curate a post independently according to his own perspectives. That type of curation is done by using the voting power on an individual user.

• In this type of curation the individual curator picks a post, see the quality of that post and then curate that post according to his analysis and if he liked that post. This type of curation can be done in the favor of one specific user.

• Community Curation: On the other hand the community curation has different criteria for curating the posts. That type of curation is done by the collaboration of different individuals of one's community. In this type of curation the collective power of community curators is used to curate the random posts in the Content creators of that community.

• In this type of curation that post is selected which is meeting the specific criteria and rules of that community. Otherwise they have complete right to skip that post for Curation if it is not according to criteria of that community.

As I have explained above that both isolated Curation and Community Curation has different criteria for giving rewards and they both have different benefits and drawbacks so if have to choose one between community curation and isolated Curation, then I will prefer community curation over isolated Curation. This is because I think that the community curation is more beneficial and effective.

As I mentioned above the community curation occur with the collective Steem power of that community curators so it is clear that the worth of rewards in community curation is higher than the isolated Curation. More ever we can learn and earn more by participating in different contents of different communities. That is why I always prefer community curation.

Does the community curation have only a financial contribution or other benefits, if so which ones?

In the above we have briefly explained about the communication curation. Besides the financial contribution, the community curation has so many benefits for the Steemit platform. So let's discuss about them.

• One of the best contribution of community curation is that it helps to create a supportive environment and increase the engagement between the Steemit users. So we can say that by doing so the Steemit users can support each other by upvoting and commenting on others posts and gave their sincere reviews about one's content.

• The community curation also involved in growth of users and in increasing their reputation by publishing quality contents and getting rewards. When a Steemit users grows then definitely that thing will be beneficial for the Steemit platform and for that user.

• The community curation has also increased the discovery of content creation and the knowledge of people. Because the communities held different interesting contests about different topics and then upvotes the outstanding enteries.

• The community curation is also encouraging the quality content creators by rewarding them. When they curate any user's post, he consider it a motivation and the tries to do work with more devotion and he also wants to achieve more success by creating quality contents.

• Overall the community curation has a great contribution is the growth of Steemit platform and its users. This is because the community curation collaboration with several users and then increase the engagement between the users which causes the rapid and organic of the platform.

The reward system of Steemit platform has witnessed several changes in the past years and the objective of all these changes to make that platform more trusty and fair for its users. That changes has almost minimized the risks of abuse in its reward system. Now the convergent linear reward system is working on Steemit which more reliable and fair. The community curation also has great contribution in the growth of that platform.
