Web3 wallets are those type of wallets that enables access to the 3rd generation of the web including the usage of dapps. They are just browsers added to normal self-custody wallet enabling the usage of dapps.they can be accessed via internet browsers like chrome, firefox. It also has a browser extension. So I am going to discuss about Metamask.

Metamask

Matamask is a type of cryptocurrency wallet that can be usee on chrome, firefox browsers. It can be used to store meys for ethereum cryptocurrencies and other ERC 20 tokens. It also allows users to browse the Ethereum blockchain via a standard browser.

Advantages of a metamask wallet

It is open to everyone and can be reviewed and updated by the community, this is one of the reasons why there will be continue to improvements in metamask.

It also ensures the security of its users by giving them seed phrases. These seed phrases can be used to regain lost account information.

The metamask wallet is linked to two exchanges, where users can buy cryptocurrencies or any ERC20 token.

In order to assist their numerous customer base and to get as much people involved as possible, they provide good customer support and also include an introduction video on its homepage.

Metamask is ery easy and simple to use, beginners can easily lesrn how to use the wallet.

Metamask has so many active users and forms an impotrant part of the Ether community.

Disadvantages of Metamask wallet.

Some of the browsers used to launch metamask can collect information about when and how you use the app. So many in the crypto community will not be happy using metamask due to this insecurity. Since rhere information can easily be accessed.

Granted that Metamask has not experienced any majjor hacks, but it is good to note that the wallet is an online wallet, thus risker than other forms of wallet. So even though that Matamask is working on this and updating its source code, ueers are primarily respons7ble for the safety of their wallets. So whe you are using a metamask wallet, only keep a tab open, and do not click on any phishing link. Always good to keep the wallet locked when not in use.

How to setup a metamask wallet.

At the address bar, type in metamask extension for chrome, it brings out the page below.

Select metamask.io/ download and it will bring out a page as is shown below.

Then select for chrome and download. After downloading, i opened it and clicked on get started. I first created a password and with the password, I was given access to view my seed key and copied it down in the order in which they appeared. And then i had access to my wallet after inputing my password.

Metamask wallet can be used to buy, sell or swap other coins or token. One can buy a token or coin using a mastercard to make deposit. Other features like swap and selling are very easy to use by following the online user instructions.

I believe that with this little overview of metamask, new users can gain insight into what it is all about and how to make use of the wallet.
