Who are considered whales on the Steem platform, and what are their responsibilities to the community? |
---|
AssalamuAlaikum, first of all I would like to share with all of you who we call whales on all platform, after that I will tell you about the Steem platform which will be very easy for you to understand. Whales are those users who generally use any digital platform and have significant influence or control, whether it be in the governance rewards distribution or the overall dynamics of the platform. They usually have a lot of resources which gives them the power to dominate others. These users play a significant role in various aspects of the platform and their influence is crucial for the community.
I will share this with you along with examples so that you can understand the concept of calling whales in a way that is similar to an ocean. Just like there are some big machines in the ocean which are very big and rule the ocean, similarly there are some users on digital platforms too who have a lot of influence and control the dynamics of the platform. They are called whales. I hope that your concept would have become clear from this small example. Now let's talk about who is called whales on the Steem platform.
Whales on the Steem platform refer to users who hold a significant amount of Steem Power, due to which they have a considerable impact on the platform's governance and rewards distribution. Their responsibilities generally are these, which I will mention below.
- Content Curating: Whales are expected to use their voting power to reward high quality content and promote engagement within the community such as through comments.
- Support of New Users: They are often involved in mentorship and support of new users, helping them understand the dynamics of the platform and contributing to their growth.
Trust in Fairness: Whales have the responsibility to ensure that rewards are distributed fairly, meaning there should be no favoritism involved and the platform should remain decentralized and inclusive.
Participation in governance: Their job is to participate in the governance of their platform, where they vote on decisions that affect the community.
Set an example: Whales are expected to set an example for positive behavior and ethical conduct, leading the community towards healthy growth and progress.
How do whales influence the value of cryptocurrencies and what role do they play in the functioning of the Steem blockchain? |
---|
Whales play a very important role in influencing the value of cryptocurrencies and it is obvious that the reward of the Steem platform is also in Steem token, meaning it is the native token of this platform due to which it is also included in cryptocurrencies and on this also definitely plays a part. But I will explain it to you step by step with examples which will be very easy to understand.
Whales which we call large stakeholders, directly or indirectly impact the value of cryptocurrencies. They have more tokens which give them more voting power. When they support or oppose any cryptocurrency it has a direct impact on its value and people believe in their opinion.
For example, if a whale supports a particular cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin, and makes transactions with it, then people trust that cryptocurrency and its value increases. But if he opposes any cryptocurrency like Ethereum and makes transactions through it then the value of that cryptocurrency can fall.
The role of whales in the Steem blockchain is very important. With their large voting power, they play an important role in the governance and content creation of the platform. Now we understand this as an example that if a whale identifies quality content and rewards it, it inspires other users to create good quality content and improves the quality of the platform. Their influence shapes the dynamics of the platform and plays an important role in the style of the platform.
BTCUSDT UPWARD MOVE
You must be seeing in the picture below that the price of BTC pumped in one dam, in the same way when any B whales specifically say something positive about 1 coin of any cryptocurrency or talk about investing in it, then they pump that coin like BTC did or I am showing you Sacrenshort for an example.
BTCUSDT DOWNWARD MOVE
Now in the picture below you must be seeing that the BTC has fallen down in one go, the price of BTC has fallen like this when any whale moves opposite to any coin or says something negative, then the price of that coin falls in one go like this.
What are the different phases that whales use in their activity on Steem and how does it affect other users? |
---|
My entire question was already answered in Question 1 and Question 2 that which phases whales use and what is their activity on Steem Blockchain. But if this question is asked again, I would like to tell you again that whales use different phases. These phases are generally like this which I will tell you step-by-step below.
Content Curation: You must be knowing this from the name itself and apart from this I explained it in detail in Question 1 but I have to tell again that whales use their huge voting power to upvote the content they like. This works to promote high quality content and increase engagement within the community. Such upvotes encourage other users and increase their visibility.
Rewards Distribution: Whales are also an important part of rewards distribution through their voting power. When they find good content, they upvote it, due to which the content creator gets more rewards or other users also get encouraged to create good content. Because many users do not get votes, they think that they will not get votes, but when they come to know that some other user has received whales' votes, they become very happy and start working harder.
Community Engagement: This has been mentioned above in all the steps and here also I would like to mention that whales not only support new users but also teach them how to work on the platform, which creates a sense of belonging and solidarity in the community.
Impact on Market Sentiment: The actions and decisions of whales have an impact on market sentiment. When they upvote a particular content or support a proposal, it also has an impact in the minds of other users in the same direction. I would like to explain this with an example: There is a user who posts daily diary games and there is another user who posts systematically. When the user with the diary game gets a vote from the whale, then automatically other users will start posting the diary game after seeing it because they will know that the content of the diary game has the support of the whale. Similarly, if a whale supports a coin, then the value of that coin also increases.
These are different methods that whales use in their activities and have an impact on other users. Their upvotes provide rewards, increase visibility and promote their content. Additionally, they have a major influence on whales' governance decisions and market sentiments which is also very influential for other users.
What potential challenges might users face on Steem due to the presence of whales, and what strategies can they adopt to protect their investments? |
---|
What potential challenges can users face due to the presence of whales on the Steem platform and what kind of strategies can they adopt to protect their investments, I want to share the answer to this question with all of you along with different points of view. And I also hope that you will understand.
First of all i talk about what challenge we have to face.
Unequal Rewards Distribution: Due to whales having more voting power, there can be a problem of inequality in rewards where smaller users get less rewards. And I am not just saying this, but every person who is involved in this challenge will take note of it. Apart from this, some people who are famous or visible in the eyes of whales get a bigger share of votes, while other users get only a small percentage, which we will call unequal reward distribution.
Manipulation of Content: Whales’ upvotes can affect the visibility and rewards of the content, which affects fair competition. I will explain it to you with examples which will be easy for you. For example, a small user shares an informative and high quality post on the Steem platform, but because his Steem Power is low, due to which the contribution on the platform is of only 1 person, the visibility of his post is low and he gets less rewards.
But on the other side, when a whale posts on the same topic and gets upvotes, his post is more visible and he also gets more rewards while the posts of small users are ignored. In this way, fair competition is reduced and small users can get demotivated. I hope that it will be quite easy for you to understand this example.
- Market Volatility: Decision of Whales I would also like to explain this with examples because it is easy for everyone to understand with examples. For example, a whale supports a specific cryptocurrency and its investments rapidly increase the value of that coin. When small users will see the investment of his whales and his decision, then other traders and investors can also show interest in that coin due to which its demand increases and its value increases rapidly. Similarly, whales’ decisions and actions led to volatility and fluctuations in the coin market, which could cause problems for small traders and investors as small users cannot move the market.
Now let's talk about which strategies we can follow to avoid these problems.
Community Building: Users should build a community with each other, so that their collective voice and strength increases. Just like I explain everything with examples, I will explain this too with examples, for example there is a stick made of wood, if I want to break it, it will break easily but if you tie a lot of wood together and make a stick then you will break it It is neither difficult nor impossible to break it, this is an example of this community that we should work together.
Diversified Investments: Do not rely only on Steem Power or steem coin or say that I will only earn with steem coin, users should also invest in other cryptocurrencies so that if on the Steem platform If any issue arises then their investment remains safe. Or I have already explained a lot about diversification in my previous article, if anyone also wants to learn about diversification then you can read that article.
Active Participation: Users should be involved in the governance decisions of the platform and use their opinions to balance the influence of whales. If people actively participate in the decisions of the platform and have their say, like voting on proposals or giving feedback, this helps to protect them from the effects of whales and make the platform more balanced.
Transparency and Accountability: Transparency and accountability should be promoted on the platform so that users know on what basis rewards are being distributed. Because of this, a normal or new user either knows what he should do or the reward is not given on the basis of favoritism.
By implementing these strategies, users can protect their investments from the effects of whales and make the platform even stronger.
How does the presence of whales impact ordinary user participation and engagement on Steem, and how can we encourage a greater diversity of voices and contributions?
How do whales affect ordinary users or engagement or all that, I have explained it very well and I would like to ask again one more time whether whales have a huge impact on Steem. Because they have a lot of Steem power and that is why they can eat whales, if their SP is low then they can't eat whales. 😬 So according to the Steem platform, 1 user has approximately 1 million plus Steem power If it happens then it will be called a whale. Whales have an impact on Steam because their excessive upvotes and rewards cause demotivation to smaller users. As I have been mentioning this thing repeatedly that due to inequality of reward, it means that big users get votes but small users do not get them and in the same way if a small user writes very well on the same topic and on the other side the same topic But if someone writes about a whale then the content related to whales will go into trending due to getting votes but on the other hand, we can say that the content of small users will remain invisible due to not getting votes. So this is the reason why new users get demotivated. Now let's talk about how can we encourage a greater diversity of voices and contributions? We must increase community engagement and promote transparent governance to encourage participation of every user. InshaAllah, diversity and inclusivity will increase on this platform. for participate in this contest. Thank you for visiting my post |

This is absolutely an interesting piece and I'm happy i cam came across it and hopefully read it. You have ceartainly explored what the concept of whales in steem blockchain is all about. You highlighted the responsibilities, impact and influence, these big birds have in the community and its no doubt that we have been witnessing that for the time being as members of the steemit ecosystem.
They have been supporting creators in the platform, pushing them to do more and earn not only steem, steem power but influence and value in the community. They have been supporting the family of steemit and we hope to see greater heights...
Thanks for sharing and good luck with the challenge

I agree with you that whale are those that have significant amount of SP as their holdings so their power down can drive down STEEM price and it all depends upon SP that whale have.
More SP means more effect and less SP means less effect.Good luck brother

Hello friend, you wrote like a professional. Whales are exceptional set of users and their influence is of high quality and that's why they should be valued and be reserved on the platform. Thanks for sharing, wishing you success. Engage on my entry through the link below

Hello danish ,
Your way of writing content was very innocent and raw. I really liked that you wrote your content in your original way. The whales impact is also very high. If someone supports or gives his hundred percent upvotes to a newbie, then he starts getting a lot of curations from steemcurator 1 and 2.
Blessings to you ❤
