Hi professor @sapwood, I'm really delighted to have your lecture for the cryto academy week5. Thanks to you and others for your explanations and the knowledge been pass across.
Thanks!!!
Here is the submission for my homework task for week 5 Sir.
Homework Task
(1) What will happen if you vote before "5 mins age of a post" & after "6 days 12 hrs age of post" in Steem Blockchain? (Include your own experiences/Examples)
(2) How do I check how much reward of a post has returned to the reward pool in Steem Blockchain? Include screenshots (Hint- Steemworld.org)
(3) Under what circumstances a curator can earn more than 100% upvote value as curation rewards?
(4) Pick any random post you have voted in Steem Blockchain and indicate the time and position of your voting, what is the projected curation reward? (Include relevant Screenshots) (Hint- Steemworld.org)
(5) What is the role of curation in better content discovery in Steem Blockchain?
What will happen if you vote before "5 mins age of a post" & after "6 days 12 hrs age of post" in Steem Blockchain? (Include your own experiences/Examples)
What happen when a vote is voted before 5minutes
What actually happens when a post is 5 minutes age which is the first 5 minutes of the post is that there will be certain percentage of the curation reward that will be lost in this manner of voting and the rewards goes to the reward pool.
As stated in the lecture the "linear discount from 0 min to 5 mins age of a post, with 100% discount at 0 min and 0% discount at 5 mins age of a post"
What happen when you vote after 6days 12hours
When a post is already 6days 12hours the vote on such a post will be 0℅ depletion at 6days 12hours. That is to say the up vote worth is still maintain but will deplete after that 6days 12hours.
How to check how much reward of a post has returned to the reward pool in Steem Blockchain? Include screenshots (Hint- Steemworld.org)
This is called a Reverse auction. One can know the reward of a post by knowing when the voting was initiated and then the calculation can be down.
For example, when you are the first person to vote on a post which is $0 there is no up vote before yours and your vote give $2 but when others gace their vote the total turn out of the vote is $24.
Being the first to up vote the post there will be 100% reward for such person, on this ground the curators will shear $12 turn out of the post.
So the curators will earn 50℅of the payout of the post.
Under what circumstances a curator can earn more than 100% upvote value as curation rewards?
A curator can earn more than 100%when the post is just like five minutes and also been the first to up vote the post which by the use of formula such person can earn more than 100℅.
For example: Been the first to vote on a post which is $0 by $3 and the reward given after the payout is $4.5, then it % can be calculated as follow
(4.5/3)*100=150%
Pick any random post you have voted in Steem Blockchain and indicate the time and position of your voting, what is the projected curation reward? (Include relevant Screenshots) (Hint- Steemworld.org)
On the left hand side of the screen it can be seen that I voted on a post yesterday at the 22:59 pm.
The payout of the post at that time is $1.09
It is can be seen from the screen which show the position of My vote. This voting is 100% as it can be seen from the screen @grace-p.
What is the role of curation in better content discovery in Steem Blockchain?
Curation may be said to be time saving to those that are actually benefiting form it, as it has been stated in the lecture that curation is not upvote but to know the content of the post and how impact full the post is. So for those that are not really interested in the rewards it is time consuming but to those that are after the rewards it is time saving to them.
Thanks for reading my post.
Best regards
