The advent of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) brought a new dimension to the gaming world. Aside from amassing points, players could also own the characters and earn as they play. This new gaming technology though still gaming, differs from regular gaming in some of it advantages and disadvantages listed below

In NFT gaming players have greater control over their virtual creations as well as other game elements like skins, weapons, characters, etc.

Immutablilty:

NFT games are powered by blockchain technology. This implies that transactions and other records are stored on the blockchains. Records stored on blockchains are immutable and cannot be changed.

Disadvantages

Environmental threat:

NFT games are powered by blockchains which currently demands insane amounts of energy to function. The energy consumed by blockchains annually have raised concerns over the environmental impact of using such amount of energy especially given that they are majorly sources from non-renewable sources.

Complexity

NFTs are not as straight forward as other games. Usually, one would only need to install a game and then go on to play, but with NFTs, lots of other tools like wallets will need to be installed alongside, make it a complicated leisure.

Losses due to volatility

Players who opt to play games in order to earn the associated NFT because of the market value might experience the wrong side of market volatility. Sometimes, assets can be invested in, only for their value to depreciate massively. Players who invested in the NFT will have to bear losses in such cases.

CRYPTOBLADES

Developers and Launch Date

Cryptoblades is a play-to-earn NFT game created on the binance smart chain platform by Riveted Games and launched on May 31, 2021.

Aim

Like most NFT games, cryptoblades takes advantage of the market volatility and popularity of it's token which SKILL, and NFTs.

The aim of the game is to grant players full control of their gaming assets, so they can earn as they play. The game also aims to increase the adoption of blockchain technology by integrating it into the gaming sphere.

Operation

In cryptoblades NFT game, gamers forge weapons and fight against enemies and are rewarded for their skills and victories. These gamers can create their own weapons as well as characters using a specific ethereum token standard - ERC 721.

These weapons and characters after they're created, are just as good as tokens on the ethereum network. This implies that these weapons and characters can be sold/bought in the game's supported marketplace.

This game is quite interesting as players can earn both from playing the game and also from creating and selling their own weapons and characters.

Native Token

The native token of the game is SKILL. According to coinmarketcap.com as at the time of writing this post, the market value of SKILL was $20.19. The market cap was at $17,761,467 with a circulating supply of 879,524.82 SKILL. The 24-hr trading volume was $3,163,240 and it was ranked as the 793^rd currency.

Availability on Platforms

The game is available on web browsers, it is a web-based browser game. However, to play the game, you will need to have metamask wallet installed on your device whether it's pc or mobile. New players will have to connect their metamask wallet to the binance smart chain network.

ACQUIRING SKILL

SKILL is available on exchanges like gate.io and also on pancakeswap (V2). On pancakeswap, it can be found in pair with WBNB, which means to acquire it, you'll need to first acquire WBNB if you have none.

Step 1

Search for metamask and download it on Google play store.

Open the app when you're done downloading.

Switch network immediately after connecting to binance smart chain network.

NFTs brought a new dimension to the gaming industry when it introduced games that were more immersive than conventional games.
