Korean dramas, telenovelas, or Indonesian soap operas may feature scenes of accidents and amnesia. But they don't have Lee Do Hyun and Ra Mi Ran.
There are lots of plots in Korean dramas, Indonesian soap operas, or even Indian series that feature an accident scene and then the main character has amnesia. Good Bad Mother, which is currently broadcast by JTBC and Netflix, also presents the same story. So what makes this Korean drama played by Lee Do Hyun and Ra Mi Ran interesting?
First, maybe Lee Do Hyun's appearance as Choi Kang Ho. The figure of a prosecutor who grew up with the love language of Young Soon, played by Ra Mi Ran. Kang Ho's childhood to youth was filled with study, study and study so that he simply did not know how to enjoy life and the food that was in front of him. What stuck in his head was 'don't eat until you're full, if you're full you'll get sleepy, if you're sleepy you won't focus on studying'.
Meanwhile, Young Soon is a wife who loves her husband as much as she loves the pigs she raises at the farm. Sadly, her husband had to die in an unexpected incident which Young Soon is still trying to uncover. Starting from that incident, he educated Kang Ho as a strong and smart person so that he could become a famous prosecutor in Seoul.
When the mother's hopes and her daughter's ambitions clash, these two characters find no way out of their predicament. Until one day Kang Ho had an accident and amnesia until finally some of his memories in adulthood were blurred. All he remembered and knew right now was the fact that he was a 7 year old boy.
In the midst of a cliche story and a basic premise that has often been featured in various forms of Korean soap operas and dramas, Good Bad Mother still offers something that no other series has: Lee Do Hyun and Ra Mi Ran. How this mother and son pair try to take advantage of the second chance given to them to improve their relationship is the main dish of the drakor directed by Sim Na Yeon (formerly directing Beyond Evil) from a script written by Bae Se Young (previously writing the film Extreme Job).
Good Bad Mother also shows the dynamics of a small community in a village with a myriad of local conflicts that they have. The chemistry between Lee Do Hyun and Ahn Eun Jin (playing Lee Mi Joo) in this drama is also one of the charms that will make the audience want many other drama titles that pair the two of them.
