Today I will try to join the class of professor @pelon53. so I will try to discuss about Hashgraph Technology, as for what I discuss here is about Gossip protocol, comparison of blockchain and hashgraph, and some other questions given this week. ok go ahead.

1. Explain in detail the Gossip protocol, used in Hashgraph

Gossip protocol is a protocol that works on Hashgraph technology. has a very unique working mechanism because the gossip protocol takes the working mechanism as the name suggests. namely the gossip activity of many people, as we know gossip activity is something that often happens to the community and the spread of information is also fast and the information spreads randomly to everyone so that information spreads quickly.

For example, let's look at gossip activities that often occur in the real world, on Sunday, Ani and Beni want to get married, so Ani wants to give information to her friends, then Ani tells Loli, Loli then gives the happy news to Deni and the information is divided. to all his friends so that ani and beni's friends know the information.

From the example above, the system works very similar to the gossip protocol, because the gossip protocol works by conveying information from one node to another randomly so that all information can be conveyed safely before reaching a final consensus. with a working system like this before reaching a consensus all information is distributed safely.

The gossip protocol has a very fast transaction speed, it's all because of this unique work system, even when compared to consensus algorithms owned by blockchain technology such as proof of work. then the information protocol is far superior in terms of transaction speed and security level.

The gossip protocol mechanism is also very influential in the load received by the server that is used by sending random information, it can lighten the load received by the server so that the process will be faster and very efficient. if we look at some of the advantages offered by this protocol, it is very useful, and it can be said that the existence of this protocol can cover the weaknesses contained in blockchain technology. the most visible such as the speed of transactions, costs, and security.

2. Explain Tolerance to Byzantine Faults in Hashgraph

On tolerance for Byzantine errors in hashgraphs before validating data, there are rules or provisions to reach consensus. this is very useful so that when a consensus has been reached, it is final and cannot be changed or manipulated by the data. with tolerance for Byzantine error a consensus will give good results because it has become an agreement with the majority. then with tolerance like this we can say the creation of justice in a system

As for the form of tolerance given so that a consensus is reached fairly, if 2/3 of the nodes have reached the consensus, not only this form of tolerance also applies to avoiding malicious nodes who want to enter the network, this is all avoided to avoid hackers who want to give misinformation for their personal benefit. as for avoiding this all forms of tolerance this also applies if less than 1/3 of incoming malicious nodes. then if it has exceeded 1/3 of the incoming malicious nodes then a consensus will not be reached. with the form of tolerance as explained above, a consensus will be achieved and can avoid crimes that spread misinformation.

3. Make a comparison between Hashgraph Vs Blockchain, for the voting process in your country, which technology would you choose? Why?

well I will compare some very striking differences between hashgraph technology and blockchain technology.

  • In terms of transaction speed hasgraph technology is very superior because hashgraph technology is able to make transactions of 500,000 transactions per second. whereas in blockchain technology it varies from around 10 to 1000 transactions per second depending on which protocol is used in this technology.

  • In terms of Consensus algorithm, hashgraph technology uses a virtual voting mechanism to reach consensus on the network, while blockchain technology uses a proof of work mechanism to reach consensus

  • In terms of Transaction Fees, Hashgraph Technology can be said to be very cheap at only $0.0001 while blockchain technology is relatively expensive around $20.

  • In terms of popularity, Hashgraph Technology is not that popular compared to blockchain technology which is already very popular.

  • In terms of Security, Hasgraph Technology has a very good level of security with the working mechanism applied. while the blockchain technology is not very good because it is often hacked and fraud often occurs in the technology.

I choose hashgraph technology for the voting process in my country

if we look at some of the advantages that this technology has, it can be said that this technology is very suitable to be applied in my country, Indonesia. With a very fast transaction process, I think this technology is very suitable for use in a large community such as a country. not only that, this technology is also very suitable for voting because this technology is very concerned about the level of security. In voting, if an agreement has been reached, by using this technology, a beacon cannot be changed and manipulated so that it can limit fraudulent actions.

4. Explore Hedera Hashgraph. Show screenshots.

The first thing to do to explore the Hedera site is to go to the official website https://hedera.com/. after entering on the first page then choose the option in the upper right corner as I have marked

Conclusion

Hasgraph technology is a technology that has many advantages, even this technology has several advantages that blockchain technology does not have such as speed in transactions and very good security in transactions. This technology is very useful with various advantages provided if it can be utilized and applied properly.
