❣️How do you store/secure your keys?❣️

When one signs up for a blockchain Wallet, the blockchain initially gives peculiar keys to the user, which the user will be used to manipulate the wallet as wishes. The unique keys provided by the blockchain are only to be held safely by the user only. These keys are not retrievable, so if lost will cause the user to lose control over the wallet, and the wallet will be lost forever. The key provided by the blockchain is solely meant for only the registering wallet, and, as mentioned earlier, it's unique. Knowing this, it's always necessary to always keep safe your keys very securely.

A blockchain wallet involves two types of keys.
The private key
The public key

Regarding keys to a blockchain wallet, the most required is to keep the private key extremely safe since it is the key that enables the user to control tokens in the wallet.

Here are commendable means to save your private keys very securely.

Primary methods of key storage are

  • soft copy
  • hard copy
  • memorizing

Soft copy

This method is a result of storing your keys on software. These software methods could be storing on Gmail on our mobile phones, iCloud for iPhone users, laptops, or computer system hard drives, etc. The software mentioned above is reliable since it's only accessible by the user only. Saving a soft copy means keeping a virtual copy of the information. The software usually provides a variety of ways to keep information.

Hard copy

This is also a commendable way to store your key; this involves utilizing materials to make a copy of your key as physical means of storage. Hard copy involves the use of hardware, meaning capable of having a physical feel. One can write on paper, have it carved on wood, written on metals, etc., to be kept safe in lockers; mystery places were available to the user only to avoid others from getting to it. I commend a completely private site.

Memorizing

Aside from soft and hard copies, learning is a perfect way to store keys. I say this because aside from forgetting the keys, it's undoubtedly an ideal way to keep your keys very safe since it's only accessible by the user only. However, it's quite complicated though, but it's worth the risk.

❣️What are the different forms of Private Key(Examples/Screenshot)?❣️

Private Key

This is the primary type of key used in the crypto ecosystem. It is usually lengthy and complex. It comprises alphanumeric characters auto-generated using cryptographic hash functions by the blockchain.

Below is a sample of a private key 🔑.

Mnemonic key

The mnemonic key is a 12 to 24 set of phrases meant to restore accounts. Usually, the mnemonic key is attributed to a wallet. When a user is signing up for a wallet, the mnemonic key is given to the user to import the wallet to another device. The Tronlink wallet, for example, when signing up, will be given a 12 set of phrases to be kept safe to be used to recover accounts. This set of phrases are required to import a wallet to another device.

Keystore file

The Keystore file is a similar key correlated to the private key created from cryptographic hash functions, consisting of alphanumeric characters. Moreover, a set password from the user is constantly used with the Keystore file to restore an account, unlike the private key where no password from the user is required.

The mnemonic keys in a hard copy form written down in my diary to be kept very safe where placed is confidential. Also I have memorized it very well and then saved it on my drive.

❣️Which form of the key are you comfortable with to handle your TronLink Wallet? Include Screenshots & hide/blur the sensitive information.❣️

I charitably like the Mnemonic keys to all the other keys because it is effortlessly memorized and give the same security. Unlike other keys, which comprise alphanumeric characters, the Mnemonic key is made up of elementary words making remembering not tricky.
