Discouragement is one main instruction the enemy uses to destroy people's destinies. A person that is discouraged can't have the power to move on. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 tells us to rejoice forever because when you let sorrow into your life, it will stop the accomplishing of your goals in life. The Joy of the Lord is your strength and we will all need it in order to achieve destiny.
Prophet Elijah was a great man of, God with great destiny to fulfill and he was doing well until the day discouragement set in. He became so discouraged so much so he asked the Almighty God to take his life. After Elijah made that request, God sent an angel to feed him. The journey had become too tough for Elijah in the light of the fact that he had become discouraged.
In Nehemiah 8:9-10, we see Nehemiah encouraging those around him after he saw them weeping because Nehemiah knew very well that without the strength that comes from the joy of the Lord, they wouldn't be able to build the wall. You may have a lot of worries and issues that make it hard for you to rejoice, but the word of God says that a broken spirit will dry your bones.
Being sad can't add a cubit to your stature, neither can it solve any issues; it can only worsen the situation. A person who is always sorrowful is merely giving a negative vibe to his or her body system and will always fall sick but a fellow who rejoices always will live a long and healthy life. Choose the joy of the Lord from this moment and receive strength to run this race to the end.
