If it has to do with the service of the Lord, it is required that you do it with all your might: in the words of the Psalmist – “bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name” Psalm 103:1. Serving God has to do with all that is within you. When you hold back in service, you can’t get through with the blessings that go with serving God: For “ye shall serve the Lord thy God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee” Exodus 23:25.
God is not a task master, He loves us without reservation and He wants our love for Him to follow suit. When you engage all that you are and all that you have in serving God; God engages all that He is and all that He has, in attending to you. To David who danced before the Lord with all his might; God said – “I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant, Thy seed will I establish forever, and build up thy throne to all generations” Psalm 89:3-4.
With God, the measure with which you mete; with that same measure it shall be meted back to you. The eternal truth in our relationship with God is that you cannot out give God. When you serve God wholeheartedly, there is an empowering wholeness from on high that is made to overwhelm you. When you serve God without holding back, God ensures that nothing is held in His merciful response towards you.
Solomon went to Gibeon and offered a thousand burnt offerings unto the Lord and the Lord appeared to him in a dream by night and told him to ask just anything. God without holding back; gave Solomon much more than he asked for. Serving God without reservation calls for much more from God; more than you can ever ask or think.
Wholehearted service is not just a church kind of thing. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:10 – “Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might”. In your place of work; God expects you to work not as unto men, but as unto Him, “knowing that if the Lord you shall receive the reward of the inheritance for ye serve the Lord Christ” Colossians 3:24.
