Faith is very visible and it is something God expects in every single transaction we seek with Him. If God ever gets pleased in any thing you set out to do; it all depends on the level of your faith, for “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).
Faith begins with what you know of God. True faith is hooked unto Who God says in His Word that He is. If this knowledge is not in place in your life; your exercise of faith bothers on Who God says in His Word that He is. Learning to take God by His Word turns your faith loose and you will not fail to obtain from the Lord; “for by it the elders obtained a good report” (Hebrews 11:2). God is Who He says in His Word that He is. Getting to know God and taking Him by His Word is a faith enhancer and it makes for visible results with God.
In our text passage; Jesus had told His disciples to come on with Him on a voyage to the other side. As they journeyed; a great storm arose which stood as a great threat to their getting to the other side, meanwhile, Jesus had fallen asleep in the hinder part of the ship on a pillow. The disciples ran to Him to wake Him up, announcing to Him that they were all about to perish. Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and there was a great calm.
He turned to the disciples and all He asked them; was “where is your faith?” He expected them in such a life threatening situation to have worked with their knowledge of His person. He expected their day to day experience of His glory and power to have emboldened their hearts to weld through the storm and to stay comported. Where is your faith? This is a question seeking to know what you have done with all your acclaimed knowledge of God and His power.
Your expectation of God based on what you know of Him is a pointer to the level of faith in your being and it determines how well you are able to get over. David armed with an experiential knowledge; that, God delivers from the paws of lions, saw his challenge against Goliath of Gath as a walk over. Armed with a working knowledge of Who God is, what do you see of the challenges and difficulties confronting you? Where is your faith?
