And Moses was feeding the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the western side [a] of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire, in the midst of a [b] bush; and Moses looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said: I will come closer [c] now to see this wonder [d]: why the bush does not burn. 4 When the LORD saw him approach [e] to look, God called him out of the middle of the bush, and said: Moses, Moses! And he answered: Here I am. 5 Then He said: Don't come near here; take off the sandals from your feet, because the place where you are standing is holy ground. 6 And he added: I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses covered his face, because he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3: 1-6
