Building Up Your Faith: Your Responsibility!

Great faith is not something that happens overnight. It’s a faith that has undergone growth process over time with a daily work and walk with God. Great Faith is built continuously and it’s result [s] can be seen during the time trials and temptations arises. You and I are solely responsible for the growth of our faith and there’s no excuse for us for not overcoming challenges and temptations when they arises.

Let us examine the life of Joseph. He was a very young man at the age seventeen alone is a strange land without his families[what a great state of lonliness!]. Rather than He allowing himself to be discouraged by the condition he found himself in, He decided to encourage himself with the word of God that he had leant over time from his Father- Jacob.
This inturn helped him not to accept Potiphar’s wife sexual advances to him. As Christians and children of God, our faith can be built up through the word of God. Praying in the Holy Ghost will also help build up our faith. Jude 1:20 says:

But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit, Amplified Bible Version.

I can boldly say that, I’ve experienced a tremendous growth in faith with this method. AS I continually pray in the Holy Ghost, I found out that my faith in God and in his word is also growing and it’s expanding.
Just like a muscle in the body, like the biceps brachii, if it’s not exercised, it won’t expand talk-less of growing stronger. The same thing is applicable to Christians. The more we exercise our faith in the place of prayer, in studying and dwelling on the word of God, the more our faith is being built up.

It’s only a faith that has been built up over time that can withstand trials and temptations when they arises.
A faith that’s growing or being built up is a type of faith that won’t go back on the word of God. Just like Father Abraham, in Hebrews 11:17-19, He knew and believed God for his word that out of Isaac shall his seeds come from and with that, He was able to believe God that God will surely raise the Boy back to life even though he asked him to sacrifice Isaac in obedience to God.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested [that is, as the testing of his faith was still in progress], [a]offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises [of God] was ready to sacrifice his only son [of promise]; 18 to whom it was said, “THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED.” 19 For he considered [it reasonable to believe] that God was able to raise Isaac even from among the dead. [Indeed, in the sense that he was prepared to sacrifice Isaac in obedience to God] Abraham did receive him back [from the dead] figuratively speaking. Hebrews 11:17-19,. Amplified Bible Version.

Job also was a man that has built up his faith in God to some extent. That’s why he was so bold to say that;

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job 13:15. KJV

Friends, the responsibility of building your/our faith is solely ours and if we want to live a life pleasing to God, we must take positive efforts in building up our faith.
