humble yourselves, consequently, underneath the potent hand of God in order that at the proper time he may also exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1 peter 5:6–7)

why is tension approximately the future shape of pleasure?

god’s answer would sound something like this (isaiah 51:12):

i — the lord, your maker — i am he who comforts you, who promises to attend to you; and those who threaten you're mere guys who die. so, your worry has to suggest which you do not accept as true with me — and even though you aren't sure that your own assets will contend with you, yet you choose fragile self-reliance, rather than rely in my destiny grace. so, all of your trembling — susceptible as it's far — famous pleasure.

the treatment? flip from self-reliance to God-reliance, and placed yourTRUST inside the all-sufficient power of the promise of his destiny grace.

you can see that tension is a shape of pleasure in 1 peter 5:6–7.“humble yourselves . . . below the potent hand of God . . . [now, verse 7] casting all of your anxieties on him.” verse 7 is not a new sentence. it’s a subordinate clause. it begins with a participle: “humble yourselves . . . [by] casting all your anxieties on him.”

which means that casting your anxieties on God is a way of humbling your self under god’s potent hand. it’s like announcing, “consume with politeness . . . chewing together with your mouth close.” or, “drive carefully . . . retaining your eyes on the road.” or, “be generous . . . inviting someone over on thanksgiving.” or, “humble yourselves . . . casting your fears on god.”

one manner to humble ourselves is to cast all our anxieties on god. because of this that one dilemma to casting your anxieties on God is a pleasure. this means that that undue worry is a shape of pleasure. no matter how vulnerable it seems or feels.

now, why is casting our anxieties at the lord the other of satisfaction? because satisfaction does no longer like to confess that it has any anxieties. or that we will deal with them ourselves. and if satisfaction has to admit that its fears are unmanageable, it nonetheless does not like to confess that the remedy might be trusting someone else who is wiser and more potent.

indifferent phrases, satisfaction is a shape of unbelief and does not want to trust in God for his future grace. faith, however, admits the want for assist. pleasure received. religion banks on God to present help. satisfaction received. religion casts anxieties on god. satisfaction gained.

consequently, the manner to war the unbelief of pleasure is to confess freely that you have anxieties, and to cherish the promise of future grace within the words, “he cares for you.” and then unload your fears onto his strong shoulders.
