It's been a while. I've always been with my mum at the shop. And it's normal for us to see preachers always coming in and going out of the market everytime, preaching the gospel.
Most of the time, after they are gone, i hear a lot of people talking about how bad they are and just preaching for the money. Even though i listen to the sermons and take the advises, I keep wondering why people will preach virtue and practise vice.
This made me think about how most of us here are doing it wrong all this while. We are all short of this. Most of the time we preach what we don't practise which isn't really good. It actually gave me an idea to talk about it to you guys, so that at least those of us who are doing this all the time will try to put a stop to it.
There are numerous ways of spreading the gospel of God. Usually, most Christians think they have to set a date or a time for going out to preach the word of God with their bibles.
But I know most of us here will bear with us here that it's not always the case. We don't always have to go out of our homes and keep preaching to people. It doesn't have to be about Matthew 28:19 always,
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Actually, I feel people are getting tired of hearing the same stories everytime, and that's the reality.
People want actions. There's a common saying which goes like "Actions speak louder than words" and it is true, somehow.
The actions we portray speak more of God than what we speak.
That's why my topic says "it doesn't really take much" because it really doesn't.
It's the small actions that we do; these things speak more of God than what we speak.
If we are always preaching the gospel and we don't do the right things expected of us, how do we expect people to listen and live as good Christians too.
There are numerous bible texts that suggests we should practice what we preach.
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”-Romans 2:20
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.-1 John 3:18
James 1:22 also says
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Being the doers of the word is just practising what God has taught us.
We should give more, we shouldn't be sharp-tongued, no blasphemous words, a Christians words should be sweet scented as a flower in the morning, a good Christian must not joke with worshipping God and praying.
These and many actions are what portray the goodness of Christ in us for others to see.
God says we are the light of the world and should make our lights shine wherever we go, never hiding them.
Just know that the disciples of Christ got their titles because of how their behaviours resembled that of Christ.
If they did what was contrary to the one they preached, I'm not sure they wouldve been recognised as christians.
This is the little message I want to share this moment.
The preaching of different sermons can be done by just anyone, but how do you relate with people after your sermon?
Do you relate well with your neighbours?
Do you feed the poor and needy?
Do you clothe the naked or you're always about yourself?
Do you do all the things God tell us to do, especially the ones about ourselves and amongst other people?
If no, I'll suggest we pray about it and know that we are only human and full of flaws. Pray for strength to do the things required of us.
If you're also trying hard to do this, I pray that God gives you all the strength and help that you'll need on your journey.
God richly bless you for reading this message.
May God be with us all!🌹✌🏽✌🏽
