Blessed at the beginning of the week, brothers from heartchurch, almost 5 days before saying goodbye to the year 2021, we thank God because he is good and because TODAY WE HAVE NEW MERCY, renewed in our lives. This is the title of this post.
By the Lord's mercy we have not been consumed, for his mercies never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3: 22-23
Jehovah is Good, God of Mercy and forgiveness, who does not take pleasure in evil, nor does he give us the punishment we deserve for our sins, but every morning he renews his mercy on our lives.
With the shining sunrise there also comes a new opportunity for us to begin, to move forward, to be happy, to share the good news of salvation. God is good at all times.
Salvation is by grace, it is a gift from God, undeserved. … God's mercy is seen on the other side of the coin. God forgives our sins and therefore does not give us the punishment that we should have. All his wrath for sin fell on Jesus, his beloved Son, and not on us who deserve it.
Why do we need God's grace? It was the sacrifice of Christ, the shedding of his blood, that made us allow God to give us the gift of his grace; as Romans 3:24 says, we can be “justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
We are children of God, we receive daily forgiveness from him if we acknowledge our sins and faults, we enjoy his daily Mercy as a sign of his Love.
Being aware of God's Mercy towards our lives should prompt us to be grateful but also to be merciful to others. Living with the constant thought of his mercy towards us will make us be thankful and reflect what we receive from the Lord God Almighty on a daily basis.
Let the wicked leave his way,
and the wicked think of him.
May he return to the Lord, our God,
that he is generous to forgive,
and from him you will receive mercy.
Isaiah 55: 7
