Hello steemians
Today i will be speaking on the topic titled Goodness. Goodness, broadly speaking is to be kind, generous or morally good. Goodness is a character of God (Ps. 25:8;107:1) and a command to all believers that are heavenly minded (lev. 19:34; Rom 15:1; Gal. 6:10). Goodness is part of the Christian character.
GOODNESS AND SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Goodness is all act of kindness energised by the spirit of God. It is God's character flowing through us because we are already part of the family of God. All seeming acts of kindness outside Christ is self righteousness and does not carry divine recognition(Is. 64:6). These seeming goodness, most of the time are backed by satanic wisdom. They are often greek- gift ladden with poisonous baits. The starting point of any godly goodness is being born again.
CHARACTER OF GOODNESS
Goodness is genuine obedience to God's law (Ps. 34:14;37:27).
Goodness is sacrificing our passions for the benefit of other in order to enrich their faith (Rm. 15:2).
Goodness has a character that is wholly opposite to evil ( 1 Thess. 5:15; 1Peter3:11; 3 John 11).
Goodness is consistently doing good and not temporary goodness because you desire someone's favour.
Goodness always helps ,no matter the cost or the circumstances (Luke 6:9, 33; Acts 9:36; Gal. 6:10).
GOODNESS AS FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
As a believer you have an unending desire after goodness ( 2 Thess. 1:11).
Goodness is part of the transformation expected from converted Christians (Eph. 4:28).
Goodness is a reflection of divine character being produced inside us (11 john 4,11; Matt. 5:45).
Goodness responds to opposition and suffering with patience (1 Peter 2:20).
Goodness does not agree to compromise divine course ( 1 Peter 3:6).
Goodness never pays back wrong for wrong ( 1 Thess. 5:15; Gal. 5:10).
GOODNESS AND GOOD WORKS
Goodness and good work are related ( 1 Tim. 2:10; Matt. 5:16).
Salvation is not obtained through good works ,no matter the quantity (Eph. 2:9; Titus 3:5).
Once the fruit of goodness is in a life, good works would be there (Philemon 1:4).
Good works honour God and give our profession firm root ( Matt. 5:16).
Good work is part of the evidences of salvation ( James 2:17; Eph. 2:10).
CONCLUSION
As a believer goodness should ordinarily be part of you. It is not a fruit to display in the church or only at Christian gathering. Goodness should permeate all our doings and dealings with our fellow brethren, even at the domestic level. A goodness that is shown outside with wickedness or evil as the opposite coin at home, is hypocrisy.
