Galatians 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
One of the things that God hates in people's lives is vain glory. In fact, the desire for it is an abomination before God.
Vain glory is the attitude of giving self the glory for the achievement of an endeavor without acknowledgement of God's presence. It's the attitude of "I did it because I'm smart".
It becomes vain because it does not stand the test of time. It becomes more vain because it provokes envy in the heart of people who see the show off.
Vain glory is also evil before God because it causes even saints to be tempted to sin. Someone who is waiting on God for his blessings can be tempted to cut corners when he sees a show off of vain glory.
Only God is to be glorified in all things and we must do so with wisdom and humility. We must not enumerate our achievements or details of efforts that led to what we have now. We must not mention what we have in the process of testifying.
Let us not provoke jealousy or envying in people. Let us give only God the glory, for any glory not given to God is a vain glory.
Let's pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your timely spiritual instructions to us today. Please forgive us for all the vain glory we generated in the past. Please help us to consistently give you all the glory, in Jesus name. Amen.
