The irony of life in the spiritual realm is that Satan is the prosecutor. Despite what was written in 12:9-10, there are many blessings attached to overcoming temptations. It takes true love for the Lord to be able to overcome temptations. The love that Joseph had for God made him able to overcome the temptation of sleeping with his master’s wife.
Proverbs 1:11-15 provides us some insight as to how we can overcome temptations and one of them is for us to stay away from the company of sinners and reject their ways. Although, temptations will always come our way as long as we are alive. Temptation in itself isn't a sin, but yielding to it is the sin. The sinful thoughts that Satan flashes at you don't become sins until you start to meditate and act on them. It is our refusal to accept that makes us overcomers.
We must also stay away from anything that could lead to temptations. For instance, why would you carry a member of the opposite gender that is not your significant other in your lap? Remember that you are still a human being.
Let us learn from Joseph who fled from the wife of master try to seduce him so as not to sin against the Almighty God. The Lord has promised to always pave a way for escape from all temptation. Joseph used the escape way the Lord provided and the devil was unable to destroy the glory ahead of him.
