WHY SHOULD WE PRESS FORWARD TOWARDS ZION?

  1. Because our present afflictions and trials is just for a moment. 2Corinthians 4:17-18
[AMP: 17.For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!
18.Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.]

In our previous edition we were able to established the fact that pressing forward towards Zion also means not giving up on our chase to obtain the ultimate prize of salvation. One of the fundamental reasons why we must not give up on our race towards Zion (New Jerusalem in heaven) or succumb to the pressures of this world is because whatever pain, hardship or tribulations we might be facing presently is just for a moment and won't last forever. So there is a need for us to be looking at the Glory ahead of us rather than contemplating quiting because our Present affliction is light when compared to what we really deserve. It is light when compared with the suffering of Jesus Christ on the cross; perhaps it real lightness is best seen when compared with the weight of glory awaiting us.
Paul the apostle also attest to this fact when he was admonishing the believers in Rome.. [But what of that?] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us!] Romans 8:18.

  1. Another reason why we must press forward regardless of all odds is because only those who endured to the end would be saved. Matthew 24:13 [KJV:But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.]

Pressing forward requires strength and only the strong can fight till the end.

Satan will always come up with different ideas and strategies on how to weaken the faith of a believer; but we must determined never to yield to his deceits.
Since our adversary(Satan) knew that he is having but a short time in this world, he will always do all he could within his limits to get the true believers down. Therefore we must be ready to fight the good fight of faith to the end. Remember, he that put his hands to the plough and looketh back is not fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:32).
Like Paul admonished Timothy to endure hardness as a good soldier of Christ in (2Timothy 2:3). We too must deem it fit to do the same.

Faith in Christ is a risk that we must not risk our lives living without. So We must be willing to press forward on this Odyssey to Zion despising the sufferings, shame, hatred from men, persecutions, pains embedded in it and the temptations to quit. Because whatever we are experiencing now as a result of our faith in Christ is just for a moment and only those who endure to the end will be saved.
