Happy day to all steemians in this amiable community! You're welcome to my blog. I trust our day has been a blessed one?
Today I want us to look at some attributes that are reflected in the life of a believer whose life has been crucified with Christ and our anchor scripture is:
Galatians 2:20
KJV:I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Crucifixion with Christ is a deliberate act of submission and consecration of oneself to God, by subduing the flesh and embracing a constant walk of obedience with Christ. There is a constant war between the flesh and the spirit; We have a role to play in mortifying or subduing the flesh so as to live a crucified life.
Quickly let me share with us a short story of a bishop that was returning from a journey one night.
It was around 9pm on a Wednesday Night when this Bishop was returning from an expedition, so he decided to lodge in one near by hotel because it was already late at Night. As soon as he drove into the hotel, one of the prostitute hanging around the vicinity of the hotel quickly accosted him to seduce him and at the same time solicit for patronage over her body. Pronto the bishop looked at her and smiled and said to her "Madam I an a dead man o". The prostitute was shocked and took to her hills and while she was running away she was busy shouting " Holy ghost fire against the bishop ".
In her myopic sense of understandings she felt the bishop was a phantom; meanwhile he was only trying to portray to her in practical terms that the life he is now living has been crucified with Christ. Therefore he is dead completely to the sin of adultery and fornication.
Moral lesson from the story
Living a crucified life does not only make you unassailable and untouchable before your adversaries; but it will gives you victory over all the satanic temptations to rob you of your salvation.
Some of the attributes of a life that is already crucified with Christ.
1.A crucified life does not lust after the flesh.
Galatians 5:19-21
Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency,
Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),
Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
2.A crucified life is void of lies
Colossians 3:9
Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices,
And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect [b]knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him
Who created it.(B)
3.A crucified life is not afraid of death and persecutions.
Acts 20:24
But none of these things move me; neither do I esteem my life dear to myself, if only I may finish my course with joy and the ministry which I have obtained from [which was entrusted to me by] the Lord Jesus, faithfully to attest to the good news (Gospel) of God's grace (His unmerited favor, spiritual blessing, and mercy).
4.A crucified life is heavenly minded.
Colossians 3:1-2
IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.(A)
And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
CONCLUSION
A life that is genuinely crucified with Christ will find it easy to make holiness a lifestyle.Emotion in the place of prayer or in the discharge of your duties in the house of God is not a sign of crucifixion with Christ; but the maintenance of a constant walk of faith and obedience with Christ.
Is your life crucified with Christ?
When he comes in Glory will you be privileged to reign with you?
Please ponder on this words with a deep sense of self reappraisal and amendments.
Remember that until your life is crucified with Christ, you will in no wise enter into the kingdom of God.
God bless you all.
Shalom!
