In the Jewish culture and custom, wedding celebrations are normally held in the evening and run through the night. Normally, the bridegroom would go to meet his bride in her dad's home with a lamp, and the wedding train would continue from the bride's dad's home to the lucky man's home, where a dining experience would be given from the welcomed visitors.
It was against this background that the Lord Jesus Christ gave the parable of the ten virgins. By and large, the parable discusses the second coming to our Lord Jesus and the judgment that will go with His return. In this parable, the Lord made it clear to the people His message was designated into two groups: the wise and the foolish.
There are different examples to be gained from this parable of the ten virgins, particularly because it contains many symbolism with deep spiritual meanings. The virgins, lamps, oil, the shortfall of the husband, sleeping and resting, the midnight, the cry, the managing of lights, having no oil, requesting oil, the refusal to give oil, going into the feast, and a few different parts of the story represent various parts of our Christian race to heaven
However, we talk about only a couple of examples behind some of these metaphors. The virgins represent the Church, while our Lord Jesus is the Bridegroom. The message of the illustration is in this manner for the Church and not for the world. We are cautioned in this parable that our Bridegroom may tarry His coming.
He may not come at the moment we expect, however He will definitely come at midnight, implying that He will come suddenly and surprisingly. Note that every one of the virgins who set out to meet the intending husband slumber and rested. The only thing that isolated the wise virgins from the absurd ones was the level of their preparedness.
The wise virgins took additional oil with them fully expecting a delay in the bridegroom appearance, while the foolish ones failed in such a manner. They clearly didn't expect that the coming to the bridegroom's appearance, while the foolish ones failed in such manner.
They clearly didn't expect that the coming to the bridegroom could be so delayed. Their inability to take additional oil made the difference and this tells what their fate will be. The Lord will take just the people who are prepared at His coming into the marriage supper of the Lamp. The door will be closed against the individuals who are not prepared after the call has gone out, and it won't be opened to anyone who arrives behind schedule.
The practice lesson of this parable subsequently is the surprising idea of the Lord's Coming. We must be prepared to meet the Lord Jesus. The lamp of our faith and Bible study must be continued to burn constantly. We must maintain and shield truth in the word of God.
We must not permit modern thinking and liberal religious philosophy to water down or dirty our faith. We must maintain our attention on the message of the gospel as we keep on after the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am sure that me and these 10 virgins could teach each other a lot ;-)
