God's care

Psalm 91:1-16

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High and takes refuge in the shadow of the Almighty, says to the Lord, "You are my hope, my God, the castle in which I put my trust!" The Lord will deliver you from the snares of the fowler; he will deliver you from the destroying pestilence. The Lord will cover you with his feathers, and you will live securely under his wings; his truth is a protective shield! Thou shalt not be afraid of terrors by night, nor of arrows shot by day; thou shalt not fear the pestilence that prowls in the dark, nor the pestilence that destroys in the sunshine. On your left hand a thousand shall fall, and on your right hand ten thousand shall fall, but the pestilence shall not overtake you; you shall see it with your own eyes, you shall see the wicked get what they deserve! Because thou hast made the Lord thy hope, because thou hast made the Most High thy protector, no evil shall befall thee, neither shall any plague touch thy house. The Lord will send his angels to you, to guard you in all your ways. They shall bear thee up in their arms, and thy feet shall not stumble at any stone. Thou shalt crush lions and vipers; thou shalt set thy foot upon lions and serpents! "I will make him safe, for he loves me. I will exalt him, for he knows my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in the midst of trouble. I will make him safe and glorify him. I will grant him many years of life, and I will make known to him my salvation."

Beloved, we all at some point have moments of anguish, because we live in a threatened world, but this psalm is full of promises, blessing and protection in the midst of this threatened world, for all who trust in the Lord we must keep in mind that He is our protector, our caregiver and our keeper. But it does not mean that we will not have difficulties, but when we believe in the Lord even the bad things that may happen to us will bring us closer to God, remember that the things that happen to us even if we see them wrong God will allow them for our good and even become a blessing (see Romans 8:28), remember that Joseph was sold by his brothers and after some time was of great blessing for his life, the same with Daniel who was taken captive and then was the King's counselor, God turns the difficult times into blessing for our lives.

At this time the whole world is living difficult times because of the Pandemic but our God is Sovereign and will continue to do wonders in the midst of this chaos. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. This psalm has something very special because in the midst of any circumstance God guarantees us security and refuge. Let us let God fight for us and advocate on our behalf. Let us rest under the shadow of the Almighty, let us maintain personal communication with God, and let us learn to depend on God at all times and to trust him in difficult moments.
