David in one of his Psalms 40:1, sang "I waited patiently for the Lord and He inclined unto me and heard my cry."
It is very interesting to know from the Psalmist that God never fails as seen in his confession. Waiting on God to help us is indeed not easy, especially in this jet age where we have instant tea, telephone, and e-commerce. In fact, it is no more news that people can just seat at the comfort of their homes and get whatever the want at a simple click. We can do our shopping and all forms of business from our table at home.
Nevertheless, in this Psalm, we discover that David received benefits from waiting as seen in verse 1. God lifted him out of his despair.
More so, in Psalm 27:14 David the Psalmist wrote, "wait on the Lord be of good courage and He shall strengthen thin heart, wait, I say, on the Lord."
In other words he got to the understanding that waiting patiently on the Lord no matter how long it is take is far better than not waiting at all. That is why in the 13th verse of the Stanza 27 of the Psalmist, he said "I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."

In waiting on the Lord, God set his feet on firm ground. Those who seek for instant gratification and quick answers can be easily deceived. Esau sold his birthright because he could not wait or endure hunger till their parents could fix them food as usual or till his own food was ready. In the other way, Elisha prayed for rain, he never gave up but waited until his servant say the tiny fist of the cloud that later brought the abundant rain. David said in waiting, God established his going, steadied him as he walked. He got to know God better to walk confidently with Him.
Having waited, he rejoiced when his prayer was answered. We put value on what we have sought for with tears. Are you waiting on God for anything? Do not give up. Wait patiently for the appointed time and date may just be at the corner, for one thing I know and I'm sure, God will and can never fail.
