One of the activities of God in salvation is justification. Every human being was born with a sense of guilt in him due to the nature of sin we inherited from Adam. The Problem with mankind is that all people are guilty of doing wrong against other people and against God. Any one or group of people who go against the law are brought before the court of justice to be tried and judged. According to the bible book “all have sinned”. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is said to be good news because, that is the means a sinful man could be declared righteous.

What is justification?

Justification means "to declare one righteous,” his wrong doing notwithstanding. Strictly speaking in line with scriptures, It is the act of God alone. To the Christian, it is the act of God’s grace by which He freely declares us to be righteous, the very moment we sincerely repent from our wrong doings (sins) and turn away from them completely and accept Christ into our lives. Paul stated that we are justified by His grace only and the grounds for our justification remains the atoning work of Christ which satisfied the demand of God for our sins and thereby appeased His holy anger over our sins and as a result, those who believed on Him are declared righteous.

And those whom he pre-fashioned, he called, and those whom he called, he made righteous, and those whom he made righteous, he glorified.. Romans 8:30 (Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

The Benefits of justification:

• It removes our guilt by crediting Christ’s righteousness to us.

• It provides for us the removal of condemnation because, our sins are forgiven.

• It also provides for us the removal of separation caused by our sins and we are now at peace with God.

Some say that justification is not by grace through faith quoting James 2:21-24. James is not against the teaching of Paul on justification. Rather he says you must prove your justification through good works. Therefore, faith in Christ is the root of our justification, but good works are its fruits.

I wish you God’s blessings in great measure. Amen.
