NOTHING IS TOO BIG TO DISCARD, WHEN IT COMES TO LAYING HOLD ON ETERNAL LIFE.

Nothing should be seen as too big to discard, when it comes to laying hold on eternal life. Anything you are holding on to, that is working at variance with your getting into heaven, is something to discard with dispatch. You will do well to let all such go, in a bid to secure your place in heaven. Heaven is real and you must stand to ensure that nothing stands on your way to getting in, whatever it is that you seem to be enjoying that is obviously warring against your getting into heaven is something you are not going to enjoy forever.

The pleasure you seem to be deriving from it is just for a moment. It works like the bread of deceit which may be sweet to your taste now, but it shall afterwards turn out to become gravel in your mouth. Sinful pleasures are simply for the time being; but life with God in Heaven is eternal. So, it’s up to you the way you seek to choose for yourself. Temporary pleasure or eternal pleasure.

Someone in trying to define eternity once put forth this illustration – that if a little boy is made to empty an ocean with a tea spoon; the day he eventually succeeds in carrying out that herculean task; that day, eternity has just begun. Is that what you are toying with? The amazing thing is that everyone will face eternity someday. It is either you are spending it in Heaven with God, amidst all manner of endless delight or you are spending it in hell fire languishing in torment.

We see Jesus in our text passage Mark 9:47, proclaiming that if one of your two eyes will stand on your way to getting into Heaven, it is better you pluck it out and make it to Heaven with one eye rather than having your two eyes complete, racing into hell fire. Friends! It is as serious.

Apostle Paul proclaimed – “I count all things but loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ” (Philippians 3:8).

What do you have on hand that is obviously an impediment to your winning Heaven? Is it an association, relationship, habit, possession or profession; you will have to let go of it and lay hold on eternal life. The eternal truth remains; that, Heaven will be worth the sacrifice. Nothing should be seen as too big as far as curtailing the excesses of the flesh is concerned.
