Bible Reading: Exodus 22:1-9

INTRODUCTION
Restitution means the act of returning something to it’s rightful own or original state. It is the act of making good or rendering an equivalent for injury or loss. Restitution deals with the social dimension of sin.

Reading the following passages to fully understand more about restitution;
- This is how it was done in the old testament Leviticus 6:1-7 lying about he following:
a) About property in trust (vs. 2,5)
b) About property in partnership (vs. 2,4)
c) About stolen property (vs. 2:4)
d) About any property obtained through deceit (vs.2:4)
e) About lost property (vs. 3,4)
- In the New testament all true believers are led by the Holy Spirit Rom. 8:14
a. When we allow the Holy Spirit to lead and control us, the things that are not our own, He will guide us in what to do John 16:13
b. We can also learn from the example of Zacchaeus in Luke 19:8
c. What Zacchaeus was doing was the restitution require of stealer in Exodus 22:1
d. This shows a definite change of heart
In conclusion, the confession of sin and genuine saving faith in Christ will result in determination to change our lives outwardly. No one can become acquainted with Christ, accept His offer of salvation and at the same time remain sinful, dishonest and uncharitable toward others. See also Philippians 4:8.
