The word defeat means to overcome, therefore total defeat of the devil means complete victory over the devil. No one can ever win the devil without Christ Jesus, before you can have the power to overcome the devil you must first accept Christ Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you must know the word of God, just as it is written in Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death
The scripture aboved makes us to understand that one can never win the devil if a person does have the word of God in his or her life, you must meditate the word of God day in and out. To fight and defeat the devil with the scripture there is a particular Bible passage you must know and use against the devil.
No One Can Win The Devil With Sin
You can claim to be a child of God or believer when you still live in sin. The devil will always monitor your life to detect some errors in your life, and if there is any sin in you the devil uses that to defeat you.
It must be emphasized that Satan cannot make a believer to do anything, if a person that called him or herself a believer sins that is because they have chosen to sin... Yes Satan can entice them to sin, knowing their weakness and knowing he will be able to defeat them with their weakness (sin).
How Can One Defeat The Devil?
As a believer living in this world and battling everyday the attacks of the devil, it is possible to achieve those temporary victories over this foe. These victories can only come through our faith in Christ Jesus and accepting Him as our Lord and Savior. These are few steps to take in overcoming the devil
Maintain Constant Communication with God
Develop the habit of communicating with God everytime, don't give the devil any chance to whisper into mind/thought. Constantly devote your time into prayers. Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
The Sword of the Spirit
Like it is said, "Two cannot walk together and succeed unless they agree"... As a believer you need to understand how to use the Bible effectively at every situation or attack of the enemy. Constantly study the word of God. Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Always wear the Shield of Faith
As a believer to defeat the devil you must have faith in Christ Jesus, without faith you cannot speak a word and it come to pass. We are to place our faith in God's promises when we are attached with fear and doubt. Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked
Put on the Coat of Righteousness
As a Christian you must put on the Coat of righteousness, this means knowing what is right and doing them. Live your life according to the ordinances of God. Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness
Total Avoidance to any Situation that will lead you to sin
As a believer, try as much as possible to avoid any situation that can cause you to sin. There's no small sin. Don't let the devil see a way into your life by those sins you tag small. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil
Finally brethren put on the armor of God, as a believer we have authority over the unseen realm by putting on the spiritual armor that God has provided.
May the grace of God be sufficient unto us to have total defeat of the devil. Amen!!!
