When Lot was made to choose the portion of land to turn to, as Abraham sought to bring an end to the strife between his herdsmen and Lot’s herdsman; Lot was carried away by the topography of the plains of Jordan. Without seeking to know the will of God as to where to turn to, he opted for the plains of Jordan; and he pitched his tent towards Sodom, a place that was ripe and overdue for the judgment of destruction.
With all his getting in the place he opted to settle; when he was to leave after the judgment of God descended on Sodom, he did not leave with a pin. He was only fortunate to have left with his family. Such is the case with men who are carried away by what they see.
The plains of Jordan might have looked green like a well watered garden; but right in the garden were “green snakes” which only God would have been able to reveal to Lot. God knows the end from the beginning. He knows what we cannot see. He works in ways we cannot see. There is no wisdom seeking to move without ascertaining what the will of God is.
When David’s camp in Ziklag was plundered; on returning, he did not seek to do the obvious. He enquired to know what the will of God was. He didn’t move until he got clearance from God.
The reason why knowing the will of God remains the believer’s smart choice, is because the will of God must be done and it is what stands. When you align yourself with what is divinely earmarked to succeed, you will never cease to be a happening person. When you stay with what is sure to stand, you too will stand to be celebrated.
God’s will must be done whether the enemy likes it or not. The will of God may be opposed, but it cannot be overcome. God’s plans and purposes are already blessed. When you discover God’s plans and purposes for your life and you walk in them; you are walking in blessing and effortless results will greet you at all sides. This is a believer’s smart choice and you can never be put to shame.
