Apostle Paul in Romans 1:16 writes "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile".
As Christians we have to pay attention to this admonision by brother Paul least we should find ourselves falling victim to this fact. There's no big deal about that, I imagine you saying that but I urge you to please have a rethink about it. We must not allow the body of Christ to suffer, neither should we grief the Holy Spirit or cause the Lord to regret calling us His.
Let me help you understand the reference text a bit. I have been in the world before I got saved. Yet, at that early stage of repentance, I always felt guilty and ashamed whenever I was to join the crew to preach in my neighbourhood. I would think of how I was gonna face the very people that I have been fornicating and drinking together.
Hence each time the word evangelism was mentioned, I would run into the thin air cause I was really ashamed of myself and the past sins. That guilt wouldn't leave me, it seem to have stayed on with me tormenting the life out of me.
I also remember at other ocassions where I had to use a newsper to wrap my Bible so that people would not know that I was going to church. I had this group of friends who could make fun of you in any little mistake you made. They alraedy tagged my Mr. born again and Mr. born Abel.
I just wish youi understand the trumma that comes with name-calling. I was not myself, I lost my ''good'' friends who were actually leading me to hell and eternal condemnation. It was so bad that I thought of having a rethink about following God. Then I head a people read the scripture from Psalm 1:1
New King James Version
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
We out to stay away from the crowd. We out to fight had to preserve the Gospel of Christ from going extinct. We have got to keep the faith alive so that we will not on that day of judgement be found wanting as Luke records it in his Book
"Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.''Luke 9:26 NIV
Reflections
Are we ashamed of the gosple of Christ Jesus?
Whom are we out to please: friends or Christ?
What would seperate us from the Love of God?
When last did I tell some about Christ?
Is there still that guilt of sin in our lives?
Prayers
Lord, please help me to stand strong and maintain my faith always.
Lord may peer pressure not make me deny you in Jesus name.
Lord please I need the grace to tell people around the neighbourhood about you in Jesus name, amen.
Thank yo4 for stopping by to read my blog. I am your brother and friend @voclab, and I stand up for the Gosple
