Lk 11:29-32
While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them,
“This generation is an evil generation;
it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it,
except the sign of Jonah.
Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites,
so will the Son of Man be to this generation.
At the judgment
the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation
and she will condemn them,
because she came from the ends of the earth
to hear the wisdom of Solomon,
and there is something greater than Solomon here.
At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation
and condemn it,
because at the preaching of Jonah they repented,
and there is something greater than Jonah here.”

Reflection,:
The Ninevites recognized God's warning when Jonah spoke to them & they repented. Unfortunately, the Pharisees, because they lacked faith, did not accept the signs,the miracles that Jesus did, & rejected Jesus as God's Anointed One & did not repent. This is an invitation to us, especially this lenten season, to be aware of God's presence among us. With faith, we do not need a sign as a condition to place our trust in Jesus. Jesus himself is more than a sign. His works & his death on the cross are signs that God loves us so much. Do you still need a sign to believe & accept Jesus & repent?

Lord Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior. I believe in You. I pray for the grace that I may always do what is pleasing to you.
