Introduction to kingdom Discipleship

Discipleship is described as the deliberate process of raising followers for Christ. A disciple is simply a follower of Christ. It’s that someone that learns as he is instructed and guided by the other.

Discipleship is a Christian lifestyle; since we claim to be Christians, we must walk as Christ walked. That is according to 1John2:6. During the life of Christ on earth, he chose 12 disciples, spent time with them and trained them up as he prepared them for the work of ministry. This is a great example set by our Lord Jesus Christ that we also must walk therein. See Scriptures Luke 6:13

Mathew 4:18-22 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

We receive Christ in our lives not to keep him to ourselves but to share him with others and we can do so through engaging ourselves in discipleship. Discipleship is a biblical aspect and a tradition that has been exercised by certain men of God even before Christ. Take for instance John the Baptist and his disciples. Check out scriptures Mathew 9:14, 11:2.

Paul writes and says follow me as I follow Christ: At some point, we are discipled through observing the good example showcased by our faith leaders in their pursuit for Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:1, KJV: "Be ye, followers of me, even as I also am of Christ."

The sole purpose for Discipleship

“Making men after Christ who are to extend the kingdom of God”. Ministry is such a huge amount of work to be done by one man. Therefore, it’s necessary for man to raise up other men that can help out in the building of the Kingdom of God. Such raised men can also help in continuing with the work of God even in the absence of their master/teacher.

There is a challenge in today’s churches where their focus is on having new converts and running Sunday school services and little attention is paid to disciplining men. It takes a discipled man to raise other disciples.

Amen! Thanks be to the lord for the spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding of his word.

Amen.

So true about churches today losing focus. After all in mathew 24, we have been given the great commission. To bring all unto the kingdom of God. We have a gathering to make and it's up to us to do it.
