Saludos

What a lovely story! I am not so sure id Eva's parents were 'dumb' to work and stand on own feet. A study is no guarantee for a job.
For a moment I thought she was too introvert to go to the party. I am happy she has that experience and the best dress of all.
I intend to join today, thanks for inviting me. I have a lot to do. It feels like Friday. 🤔

🙂🙂🙂🙂. Eva's parents didn't want to struggle (students coming from poor families, even low middle-class to middle class, in the nowadays conditions, must struggle harder than wealthy and rich students) to obtain a degree (I understand the online translator can't compare to a human translator, even if Deepl is better than Google translator). I'm inspiring from the average Latin American societies, where a degree is still a guarantee in the Central countries (depending on the kind of the degree and the city where you live, it's still a guarantee in Mercosur and Mexico too: if you become a medicine doctor, you'll never be unemployed, nor even in Italy that faced one of the highest unemployment rate in the world), even it's not the same thing as in the seventies, eighties and nineties. And above all, if you want to practice the medicine, engineering, architecture, etc., a degree is compulsory, no other way...

With us they slways struggled harder. My daughters refused to continue to study. What's the point? They want to be free do as they like only need a bit money to realize that. My son will work fulltime and study. I hope he can do so without loans/debts. His reason????
With us you are unemployed as a doctor. You need money to buy yourself in, a certain amount of patients, same for midwives and vets. You can not just start. The government/city has to allow it. As a patient you are also not free to go to a doctor you like. The doctor had to be in your direct neighbourhood.

I reply all here cause comfort reasons😂:
1)dear friend, so you only sleep 4 hour per night. it's less than mine: I go at 3AM, a lot of time to finish my jobs, but then I wake up at 9 to 10
2)Qwai is a sort of YouTube/TikTok competitor. It works in Latin America, don't know if it works in the northern European countries (I know it works in Italy because my husband has an Italian Qwaier colleague
3)I understand what a struggle is to work and study. I also did it, especially during my second degree (during the first degree years, I had a side job not so demanding as my current online tasks, as I worked a few hours per month in an Economy laboratory and sometimes the public administration of my former city called me to perform bureaucratic stuff during elections). In addition to the online tasks, I kept on teaching too, especially before the covid times. In any way, I never saw teaching as a burden, as I love this kind of job
4)in the story I posted for the contest, my idea wasn't to undermine people who freely decide to stop to study to get a job skipping university. The decision of Eva's parents was in need to give sense to the plot. The thing I kept on criticising is the previous governmental system in some countries lacking to promote the duty to finish at least High School. If you still don't know, Italy stayed the only country in the European Community who determined only primary school to be compulsory. This is only 8 years of formal education and it's nothing. Even Mexico, a fourth world country, whose economy and administration is very far behind Italian's economy, determined since decades High School to be compulsory. 8 year of primary school don't prepare for any kind of job, nowadays nor to become workmen and cleaning ladies. And after the Educational Reform in Italy in 2020, nor High School has any more this task. Now, it's compulsory at least a 3 years of technical school (for ex. to become hairdressers or bartenders, etc.) or 3 years of secondary school (what is immensely stupid, because 3 years of secondary school means the student interrupts his/her schooling and nothing in his/her hand apart of the primary school license, who serves of nothing to get even the most humble job). And i think it's a shame for a declared first world country (OK, Italy isn't in fact first world, it's in fact third world since the third millennium, but politicians can't declare default or it will be a worse disaster) to stay behind the poorest countries in the world in fact of education. If a fourth world country says High School is compulsory, why a declared first world country only promotes primary school? What a shame! The second point to not forget, is lack of adequate cultural baggage is a harbinger of the worst decisions even in the field of personal life. I saw with my own eyes in the case of my best friend, who stopped to study after having finished the 8 compulsory years of primary school.
5)now, in spite of the above, in fact in Italy, during the last years, university became compulsory to get even humble jobs, because High School was completely reformed and most of High Schools don't prepare any more as during my times, when I took my High School degree still enabling (cause taken before 2002) to teach in kindergartens and the first 5 years of primary school
6)last but not least, yes, if you dream with a particular job, you need a degree, no way (during my times, High School degree was enough if your dream was kindergarten, today not any more, you must get a 5 years degree), as primary school only leaded to be workmen (now in Italy they are hiring engineers to be workmen...😞)and in the case you lack money, working while studying becomes a must. Obviously it won't be imposed: it should be a personal choice

We do not count in degrees but a diploma of some sort of school most like specialized in a certain education. It sounds as if worldwide the education level became lower.
If it comes to all those worlds I get sick snd tired of it. By the way it is a political game and win win too since 3rd world receives more aid.
If it comes to highschool perhaps Itsly is smarter. What's the point in forcing children to continue school?
In The Netherlands kindergarten doesn't exist since at least 25 years do children go to primary school from the agd if 3.5/4 till 12. Next some sort of high school (depends on tje outcome of the Cito which level) where you stsy till 18 unless you are an early student and have your pspers.
The fact is most children at the age of 12 have a loan and there's a large group who doesn't care about studying. They bully, break down tje classroom, give teachers a hard time. They do not show up in time or not at all and if make it hard for those who want to study to concentrate.
I do not see any point in forcing these teenagers who are the future into staying at school. Let them work their are plenty of jobs. We do not need people who studied for over ten years at an university but people with skills like plumbers, carpenters, car mechanics and so on.
While working one can learn a job very well too.
Studying is no must here it will only give you high debts which many still pay off if they are 50 years old. It's the last thing I want for my children.
Besides of this we have adult online/home studies for at least 50 years. It's a good option without wasting monry, time and traveling costs.
Thanks for taking the time to answer and explain.

Children burdened with a loan? I'm astonished, what a mess! Such a thing doesn't happen in Italy, south Europe in general and less in South America, where it's compulsory legal age to get burdened by a loan. Moreover, in the bigs of Mercosur you have the possibility to study for free until the last university year.
My worries are mostly for teenagers and young adults who really love to pursue a professional career, but their parents refuse to invest in their education despite their evident cleverness (such a parents behaviour is -or at least it was during my times- common in the northern-west Italian areas, especially the area where I was born and grew up and I'm not talking about poor or modest people: it's mostly wealthy entrepreneurs who adopt such a questionable behaviour).

If the money and interest is there I wonder why deny a child to study?
The time this been pushed by parents and the government is over. They need people who are willing to work not the brains and without skills or experiences.
In The Netherlands a child is born with at least 100.000 debt.. It's a miracle to me how thst can be. Free is nothing. Even for toddlers 2.5 years old we pay (how much depends on your salary), primary school is said to be free but parents are kind of forced to pay the annual parent's fee set by the parent committee of the school. If you can't afgord it? Buuuhuuu for you or more your child. It can not come along with school trips (needs to be paid extra), join celebrations, and and.
Next to that there are 101 extra things to pay for: birthday of the teacher, teacher's day, easter, st maarten, st nivholas, christmas, mother's day, father's day, schooltrios, goidbye party for the highest class, gymnastic clothes, lunch, schoolmilk, .. you name it we pay it (except for schoolbooks, paper, pens).
After primary school books and everything has to be paid.
My friend pays 98 euros per month so her son can take the bus. Her daughter has to start working now and will do courses to study on. Books, the course (average 2000 eufos), travelling costs are all on het account.
If the child can't pay back once finished with the study no idea who pays. Most likely the parents. A few years ago they talked about parents paying off the debts of their children if they are <27! Imagine that. An 18 year old can vote, take loans, get married, has/make debts and as a parent you have no voice but you can pay!
A good reason not to have children.

Today to raise up children became shamefully expensive. Even during my times, when primary books were a cost for my parents, all these expensive parties didn't exist (teacher day, etc.). I suppose there is a strategy behind, to complete destroy the middle class.
You asked why to deny a child to study when the parents are wealthy? Unfortunately, it's a cultural point of my former geographic area: a student can't be fully dedicated to a job generating an income and whoever doesn't earn a salary is considered a social parasite if he/she is able to speak and walk (no physical disability is seen as a duty to engage in a manual work). Working in a factory as a workman shoul be the greatest dream for such a culture.
