Greetings to all my valued friends who love art and writing. This week I am super happy, because new participants have joined the initiative and that motivates me to search, with more determination, for works that inspire good texts. Therefore, for this week 41 I bring you the Swiss Albert Anker:

This distinguished painter was born on April 1, 1831 in Anet, a town in the Canton of Bern (Switzerland). He belonged to a large family. Between 1845 and 1848 he took private drawing lessons.

In 1851 he began to study Theology at the Universities of Berne and Halle (Germany). But then he abandoned his studies to travel to Paris. where he frequently attended the Imperial School of Fine Arts.

His works were regularly exhibited at the Official Salon in Paris, between the years 1859 and 1885.

In 1864 he married Anna Ruefli, with whom he had six children. At this time he specialized in making portraits of children.

He left Paris in 1890 and returned to Anet, where he died on July 16, 1910, at the age of 79.
