Micro News | New investigation of multicellular microorganisms | Strange toad discovered in the Amazonas

Hello, welcome to my blog, today I would like to talk about two interesting topics, one is an investigation about a multicellular microorganism and the other about a discovery in the Amazon. These two topics seemed very interesting and I want to share it with you.

Bicellum Brasieri

One of the investigations began in the torridon lake (Scotland) these had never been seen before and is that on the shores there are geological deposits that date back a thousand million years and within the rocks there is evidence of this organism, a multicellular organism oldest marine in the world according to a study published in Current Biology these had never been described before in the fossil record this being, the fossil microorganism was called Bicellum brasieri that organism is something strange because it is not an animal or a fungus, but it has the shape of a fungus, according to scientists believe that these in a holozoan that is a ancestral organism in theory from here the animals descended.

This is an important achievement because microorganisms that were more than one billion years old were generally an organism that could be found in the marine fossil record but not on land, in this case this would be the first organism of more than one billion years that is not applicable. of the ocean and that is important.

Brachycephalus rotenbergae iluminado por una linterna ultravioleta

This is one of the strangest toads discovered in the Amazon and was described very recently in this year 2021 and was baptized with the name Brachycephalus rotenbergae this is an extremely rare species of toad the size of a fingernail I mean, it measures 2 mm and it also glows fluorescent orange, as we already know nature when it shows us an animal that shines a lot is as if it were telling us to be careful with this animal that is very dangerous.

How could a fingernail-sized toad be so dangerous?

Well, if this toad is very dangerous, it cannot be touched because if you touch it we could get sick, and the scientists who investigated reported that any animal that ate this toad, be it a mammal or a bird, dies (It has the same poison as the puffer fish) this tiny animal found in the state of san paulo was subjected to different tests and scientists were puzzled when it occurred to illuminate it with ultra violet light because bone plates appeared as if they were protective plates on the skull and back that They lit up in green, the scientists affirmed that they had no idea why these were happening, it is as if this toad was from another planet, but I have no doubt that in the end they managed to discover what all that means.
